Wood jet kits.
I have now bought me my first turbine. The turbine is a Jetmut Merlin VT80.

Now I need a jet plane to the turbine, I would prefer to build wood model.

Anybody have experience with Jetmach super sport, Turbinator, Reaction 54 and Super Reaper. Need a model with some big wheels, the runway is very rough.
Which of these has the lowest landing speed ?
This will be my first turbine model, I have 17 years experience in propeller aircraft, and 2 years experience with DF

The only one of those I have flown is the Super Reaper. Mine had a Wren 54 and I think it would be great with a VT80. It has quite a big efficient wing and is a little tricky to slow down but once you get it on the back of the drag curve it will land very slowly. The other benefit is that it has strong fixed main gear which would be very useful on a bumpy field. I broke my noseleg former out on mine on a bumpy field so if you go for this model I would suggest that this area is reinforced.

I had a facet 2300 and loved it!!!!! Very fast for a wood jet, It had a P120 in it and it would flat out run my friends King Cat with a Jet central Eagle. Tried to radar it with a 200MPH gun and we could not get it to read or lock on so I guess it was going 199.99999 MPH. Build it light and a 18# turbine will be fine. It flew just like a pattern plane, on rails!!!! I used kingcat wheels and brakes and it flew off our bumpy grass runway just fine. If you get a kit PM me and I will let you know the mods I made to mine to make turbine equipment install easier.

Very few wood models to buy nowadays.... If you consider an ARF, I would suggest the Boomerang Sprint which is wood construction (very strong) and would fly great with the VT80.

Reaction 54 is a great wood kit.
Landing speed has been radared at 18 mph and top speed of 170 with a P70.
The VT80 should be a great fit.

You can read tons about it here;

Apologise for the suggestion!

The Reaction was the most thorough, though out, best cut kit I ever built. Very tough.

Turbinators are a pretty easy build. Have built two sizes. One is a 72% for a Wren 44 and an E-Turbinator for a Jetcat P-20. I have flown the P-20 but not the 44 size. Really a blast and easy to fly. You can get short kits from Laser Design Services.

If you like to build, I don't think you are going to beat a Jet mach sport or super sport.

I had great luck with my Reaction 54 kit. I fly from grass, a little rough but with the Pro-link Nano struts from Dreamworks it was bulletproof. You won't be disappointed

If this is your first wood kit I highly recommend the Reaction 54. I have both a Super Sport and a Reaction 54 kit. In my humble opinion, the Super Sport wins for looks, but in terms of ease of building, quality of instructions and overall weight, the Reaction wins hands down.

Hey Bob!
What is the difference between Sport60 and super sport?
Is it Sport 60 that has the lowest landing speed?
Or is it equal?

Also, not sure if you just like to build or if you were considering cost. If cost is the determining factor check out ModellbauUSA and their ARFs. The Tornado or F-86 Dog would be good choices for your turbine. I just completed the F-86 and it took some work to get it completed but it flys nice!

Hey Mike!
I like to build, some ARF models are cheaper to buy compared to kits.
If price is most important, I would have bought second handset.
