8FG Super receivers
Just picked up an 8 FG and it came with a 6208 hi volt receiver. I'm not looking to install one of those in every plane I own. What are my options? I keep seeing these orange receivers which would be perfect for several of my indoor foamies. Anyone have receiver numbers that are compatible with my 8?

Any of the FASST compatible receivers from FrSky would be a good option.

Any of those receivers will work with the 8Fg, or any other FASST transmitter. All these receivers will link in either the 7CH mode, or MultiMode, in Multimode they provide fail safe on all channels, not just throtttle.

RE: 8FG Super receivers
Do I have to change from 7 to multi channel operation in the transmitter every time I want to fly something else if the plane requires it?

RE: 8FG Super receivers
The 8FG stores the transmission mode with the model. So if one is 7-channel and the other multi you do not need to do anything when switching models.

I looked at the orange recievers a while back and in the fine print they said they didn't have fail safe capacity. They may have been a earlier version.

That does apply to the 8 ch FrSky. With that receiver you have to disable the F/S in the model setup, but you can set F/S by performing the link function with the sticks in the position you want the F/S to be. The other models, the 7 and 4 channel units do work with the F/S programming in the transmitter.

The 8FG will actually work with all Futaba FASST receivers except the new R7008SB that is only for the 18MZ at this time. It is always safest to stick with genuine Futaba FASST equipment.

RE: 8FG Super receivers
I picked up another 6208 and some little 4 channel Futaba receiver. They had the orange ones, but seem much bigger and heavier. My foamies weigh 5 oz.
I am setting up a 1/4 scale Slick for 3D and ordered digital HV Hitecs and also want to try the high speed function. I am using a standard servo for throttle and that would mean I will have to assign throttle to the 7 or 8 channel. Is that possible?

RE: 8FG Super receivers
Yes, very easy to do with the 8FG. You just assign the throttle function to either CH 7 or 8 in the function menu.
I have a 30cc powered YAK 54 with 5 Hitec digitals and an analog on throttle. I assigned it to CH7 and have the Opto kill on CH8. Works fine
I also run the receiver in HS mode. will you feel a difference, not so much . The HS mode with digis seems to be mostly of benefit with high performance helis.

RE: 8FG Super receivers
I don't figure it will help a ton, but just figured it will be fun to mess with and am curious how it works. Probably going to be too fast anyhow and will need -100 expo.
I did watch a video of a 3DHS Slick with the Speed setup and in a hover, could get all of the surfaces to go full deflect before the plane reacted. LOL Was just cool to see even

Try this receiver... for $30 it is every bit as good as a genuine Futaba... I use them in my 450 Helicopters and they are flawless.. 8 Channel, so you set the radio to Multi Channel

Here is a range test... 2800 Meters.. no problems at all..

RE: 8FG Super receivers
Thank you for this impressive test.
There is only a "little" problem that needs to be addressed. In the test the model is not moving. In a moving model controlled by 2.4Ghz you might get less range than in this static test. Anyway. As long as receiver sensitivity is on pair with Futaba's own stuff, range should be about the same.
