Looking for advice.
Im getting back into boats after 13yrs {:< and what im looking for is an Elc.boat this time.  I ran nitro back in the day, ran deep v's tunnels and riggers had a 21 prather with a 40 motor that ran 60.

Im looking to do a couple of boats over time.

I want a single motor boat that can handle around 50/55mph on 4s-6s set up and as a ARTR or RTR.
I no out of the box none will do this. Just looking for the best hull to start with for each.

Im looking to do a Deep V , Cat , and a mini jet boat

looking for brand and model and why

something like
Aquacraft   Motley Crew
Pro Boat   Mystic
Pro Boat    Impulse 31
Traxxas    Spartan
OSE          Pursuit
Fighter Cat    Daytona 37
Fighter Cat   River   32

What's ya think???????

Thanks

stay away from spartan unless u find a great deal on a already upgraded used boat ! i have a full carbon fiber hull 32" rivercat from fightercat i got the hull and installed all of my own hardware. running 4s2p 2000kv turnigy with offset rudder and m442 prop this thing literally jumps out of the water. i set center at 33% and its pushing 55 easily and havent even started to adjust prop. the pursuit is another decent option for mono. and for hydro i do not own 1 but the ul1 is suppose to be a great rtr. good luck

If anyone can give me some input on this boat that would be greatly Appreciated.

Now for the Cat

Looks like im going to build a FighterCat Daytona 31

anyone have any good info for what would be the best hardware for this, as it has been over 13yrs since my last build.

Im looking to build a 60 mph Daytona 31
Motor ????
esc ????
shaft size ???
straight or off set rudder???
ect. ect.???

Agreed stay away from the spartan. Had a Vanquish and hated it, the Osprey is a much better hull and is a TFL hobbies hull, better lay and much better hardware especially when compared side by side. Don;t run the stock package that HK suggest though, those guys have no clue how to setup a boat. The impulse is a good buy, imho. Best running deep vee I currently own though is a Pursuit 32, You can snag one from Offshoreeletrics.com on the forum side, need to be a member or from Kintecracing. Hobbyking also sells them, but on the hk version hull and hardware is great everything else is terrible. The fightercat hulls are also great and both are TFL if im not mistaken. The smaller rivercat is awesome in a single drive and turns very well when in a single drive setup, a twin build tends to roll in the turns because of the batts needing to be ran in the center vs a single drive with the batts in the sponsons. The longer daytona is great in the straights can suffer in the turns due to the narrowness of the hulls.

Just my 2 cents.... at the end of the day have fun!

Pursuit 32 (I built mine prior to the artr packages from ose and kintect)

Osprey (not stock)

mad i really like that paint scheme.   me and jack go way back {:<    that couple (Jack & Ginger) got me in a lot of trouble.

that looks like the River hull.
How do you like that offset rudder???? what motor and speeds are you running??? any pics of the inside????

I like the river hull, but im running a real Daytona 21 jet, so im thinking of doing the Daytona 37

I would like to do one that will run 50/60mph and be reliable  motor/esc wise.  Im thinking i will need to run atleast a 6s-8s setup
to do this.  so if i go with something like a 6s-10s motor and esc setup,   Wat's ya think???

if you where doing a Daytona 37 what would you run????

What were the problems you had with the Vanquish?  Just got one and have not run it yet. You say you hated it - anything you can recommend to improve it?

i dont know about a 37 fightercat would prob have good reading on setups and i always put diesel under the gun but he probably has a better suggestion lol. yes me and jack go way back too lol he never got me in trouble though . i think i may be part owner (as much of the product i have drank). just by eyeball it was running well over 50  i know 1 thing it smokes the stock ekos i  with twin drive running 4s. the problem with this hull which isnt that great of a problem but its limited batt packs to place in the sponsons and i wouldnt even think about cutting any of the hull out to accomadate bigger packs. the offset rudder is something i made from a extended mount i figured why not i have the drill bits taps etc it steers very well almost to well i have to adjust my endpoints down a tad. on a good note i bought some window sealing stuff that has sticky back and built up the  hatch with some balsa  pinned the front and blind nut with knurl to hold the hatch on with the sealing no tape flipped 2 times waited about 20 minutes for the wind to blow it back in as i didnt load up the kayak and it remained water tight. i will be putting in a t180 esc however as im ordering a few from hk china in a few days since they fixed all the bugaboos from the first batch.

Supersoaker- You don't need 6-8s to run 55-60 at all. My 32" mono runs mid 50s on 4s although the higher voltage can lowe the amp draw which is a good thing, just don't think more volts means faster, it has to be done a certain way and keep the unloaded rpms in check. With a 6s-8s setup that just more money wasted then is actually needed. HV esc's are expensive and motors that are capable of that voltage usually end up needing a 2 setup. It also depends on the size hull that you want. A 37" single drive fighter cat hull can be pused easily into the 50s on 4s, but I like 5s setups myself. Typically less amp draw then a 4s setup and doens't push the more afforable 2s-6s escs to their max voltage. A good solid 5s2p setup in a 37" fighter cat all, I would go leopard 4082 1800kv with a seaking 180 esc you can find that offshoreelectrics.com or Ben (fightercat) also sells those I believe.. That would be a awesome sport boat on 4s2p or a really good for some fast high speed runs on 5s2p all while getting into the 50s if proplerly propped

Huck119. I had the very first run of the boat with just hull and hardware, not sure if things have changed since. The issues where though the hull was a very lighy lay and very flimsy, the motor coupler was complety garage and extremly unbalanced, the hardware began to chip, the bottom of the strut was actually below the transom the trim tabs where actually also below the transom so everything was digging into the water, I had to do some much just to get the hull to act like it wanted to run decent at all and after all that work it still ran like crap. Just was all out nightmare. I purchased the Osprey instead and night and day difference, such a much better hull and much better combo. Im actually selling my Osprey though, got bills to pay. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?33705-F-S-TFL-Osprey-41-quot-mono-artr

I did a big thread on the Vanquish on OSE and RCG that gives full detailed break ddowns of all the issues with pics and everything. Their is also a side by side comparison of the Vanguish next to the Osprey thanks to Ben (fightercat). We quickly learned the Vanguish was not a TFL hobby hull and was not good. I dumped so much FG in that dang hull to strenghten it up. Like I said that was the first run, not sure if things changed. Onething for sure did though and that was the price. I paid $75 for hull and hardware the day the Vanguish hull released for sale and I wish I had that back. Sorry if this information dissappoints you, just being as honest as I can be .

also soaker like i said im running  zippy 4s2p 4000mah 40c batts in the hull cant go much over a 37mm thick pack without cutting carbon fiber.  4074 2000 mah turnigy motor and swinging a m442 prop and this thing launches out of the water and planes quickly. with the 37 daytona if you get it you will have more room in the sponsons for thicker packs . one of these days if the weather gets back into the spring time i will check gps. thanks again diesel i dont mean to make you work hard at this but you test alot of stuff and figured you would have a better idea with that size hull  . all my hulls are 32" and 48" but im running gas in the 48's however im contemplating a 10 or 12s setup in that big ole heavy miss bud 1/8 hull lol. i was going to run it in the insane gen4 hydro but it was going to be very difficult to seal up. atleast in the bud hull i can glass inside canopy and it wont be seen from outside.

Thanks for the reply. The hull needed some work to make it stiff.  As far as the hardware; it seems OK.  The parts are located properly. The only thing that looks weird is the flex cable is .177 diameter.  This does not seem to be a standard size; I don't where to buy replacements in the future.

huck you can always change the tube stuffing and flex drive anytime you want. it does sound small i would run a 3/16 flex and shaft in the setup as the power you will be running in the drive will be to stressing and break. for the tube look at offshore electrics steve has it listed if your running teflon or not . myself i dont run teflon so for 3/16 setup you would want 1/4 brass tube, make your bends and reglue/ glass tube in. not to bad of a job after you do it once or twice.

CC2028 for that big 48" hull. 9s2p or 10s2p is what i think most folks are running in that hulls that size.

Supersoaker, what are your desires for the boat? Yes I know - a 60 mph Daytona - but do you intend to race it, run in rough windy water, or just make fast passes in a small pond? How much run time are you considering? How much are you willing to spend?

You do realize that FE run times are usually much shorter than nitro? Three to five minutes is reasonable depending oh how you run (lots of WOT or on and off, etc.). I built a FC Shocker (37") for SAW racing and got it over 90 mph before it broke apart (I have held plenty of records with cats, I know how to build fast cats).

If I were building one for 60 mph running and extended run time (the latter is a relative term) I'd definitely go 6S2P on batteries. Get the best you can afford, minimum 40C and 5000 mAh - remember that all the power in any FE boat is in the batteries, the better the packs the better the boat runs. A quality motor with a Kv between 1200-1400 Kv would be a good choice, minimum 40mm diameter and 80 mm long. A decent ESC with a maximum voltage rating of 8S or more, maximum current 180 amps or more. Offset the rudder to the right. These are bare-bones requirements IME if you want a fast, reliable boat.

Here are a couple photos of my 90 mph 6S RiverCat, I never got a pic of the Shocker.

I would like to run a 4-6s setup on 4/5s but im not lock on that at this point
im looking at the seaking 180 ESC and a TP or Leapard 4082 or 4092

Daytona 37 FG

whats that mg servo putting out for torque you will want atleast 125 oz / in for steering ? you will find them cf hulls dont need any more reinforcing mine is solid as a rock anyways. unlike fg hulls mine has no flex at all.

looks good i also found using trex 500 flybars for rudder links are great i leave 1 end threaded and cut to length and ca into dubro links that way 1 end is adjustable just in case you cut it to short ( if you didnt pretrim nuetral ) on servo horn etc. the flybar is very strong compared to alot of the rtr linkages that bend  just looking at em lol. it holds my big gassers from flexing so it should hold the smaller hulls. also on the rudder kintec has 5 inch rudder for like 25 bucks differant lengths dual pickup. very quick to ship i usually get my stuff in 3 days then make a offset or get 1 from fightercat. i use one of the mentioned rudders cut down to about 4 inches and it holds the 32 pretty well so im sure 5 inch would be decent or even shave a tad off.
