OK Cox fans bit on info on the Davis killer crank for the 049 rear reed valve engines only ( not front intake)

Unlike some others out there the Davis is hardened chrome alloy steel, not the common stuff also note there is no cutaway (thinning) of the crank between
front and back, not needed gets plenty of lube, the cutaways have a reduced bearing surface which can cause wear at the front and rear of crankcase bearing area thus you can wind up with a wobble in the shaft sideways not good. should use in the diesel conversions and good idea if kept as glow
Yes I have 2 in mine martin

Hello
Cox international offers pretty much the same cranks and heads as David for a far better price.

If you want one from there a cheap as it is now get it soon because they will be moving manufacturers to one in the USA so there will be a price increas of a few bucks.

Nitroplane I think the Cox international one is not chrome alloy steel and has the cutaway machined in the shaft not the same martin

on my post I did not to throw darts thus just said other brands, the diesel head is a direct copy of the Davis they even say that at least Hats off to Davis
on that one they do have just about everything in Cox so a high score on that part. the crankshaft I do not think the same quality

Recyled flyer only two I know of, the original Davis and Cox international the post was not intended to throw stones, just fact martin

In all other respects Cox international has done a great Job in bringing cox back with engines and parts, the crank does not have the quality of the Davis one
as far as a davis head copy not going there

Hi All, Well, I don't know about these two sources, since I bought a couple of

of these heavy duty cranks many years ago from my friend, Dale Kirn.

I'm not totally sure, but I think Cox made them for some of their ready

to run car engines. As an aside, my prepped Class 1 Mouse race engines

that had stock cranks, would turn 22,000 to 22,500 on my break-in prop.

those cranks never failed even at those high RPMs. However, I know of

several friend's stock cranks that did fail when running diesel heads on their

reed valve engines. I put one of those heavy duty cranks in a reed valve Cox

because I decided to try a diesel head, and it worked really well powering a

C/L Stunt/Sport model.

Tony

Hi cox had these cranks in the killer bee and and venom engines but they were not as hard as the cox international or Davis ones do would not always withstand diesel.
LMH had HD cranks for the tee dee .049 and .051 for helicopter use.
