juweeltle .They required a slight modification to the strut length and a little rehaping and they now fit the Zero perfectly.

kahlog , I have been hinting to my wife about the GoPro for at least six months , but I may have to buy one myself...

I will see if I can convince someone to video the Zero the next time I take it to the field but right now its too wet and it would sink into the runway.

Tone, I mentioned this awile ago that I have the v2 set for the DO-335. I believe you said that they could be upgraded to v3 by switching the actuators and then using a control board. What would be the cost to do this? Or...what would be the cost to buy a set of the do-335 gear, but without the oleos?

The upgrade kits from ESM are still in and I'm not holding my breath waiting for them unfortunately. However, please email support@troybuiltmodels.com and we will get you switched out to V3 if you are still on V2!

it seems that the retracts ard made for a 80° angle, more for a fw-190......(the lenght of the struts are o.k., 238mm)

when i look at the pictures of a esm f8f, it seems the come out at a 90°, can anyone onfirme that please?

juweeltje ,
My gear are close to 85 degrees ,but with the angle of the gear mounting rails in the wing they come down at close to 90 degrees perpendicular to the ground.

Ck1, even with the dihedral off tbe wing it doesn't look good....
TMB has a youtube movie off the airretracts for the f8f, and there you can see they go nicly to 90° as it should be on the bearcat.
also if you put the fixed landing that comes with the kit, you can se that they are  on 90° with the wing.
Please Ck1, take a picture off it so that everyone can see the situation....

to Tone Price, please give me your opinion about the f8f retracts. Are those that tmb is selling also at 80° like my retailer here in Europe? iff so, why 80 and not 90....? i can't understand it....

After watching the first vid, I'm not sure where you get the 90deg?  They don't mention it, and in the one shot where he is showing the toe in adjustment screw, the leg looks a little off of 90degrees to me.

Have you ever just asked the manufacture what they are?
I would not assume that just because they look close to 90 degree that they are.

Casey

 @glazier,
it cleary looks 90 to me, take a good look at the v2 elec versions movie......

i have just said to the retailer that the don't look good on the plane when they are less than 90...
he has looked for a replacement ,but dide't find 90 ones....
thats why i sould liks to hear from Tone Price at tmb, if the f8f that they are selling  are 90 or less....

juweeltje, I just looked at the last set we have in stock and they appear to be 90 degrees. In our listing for these, they are listed as an 85 though the one we have in stock is 90.

No problem, we just must have had them in the incorrect spot for our listing since all the videos and the one in stock is 90!

hi guys…

i got news from my European retrailer…
he has taken the ,…...hmmmm how would i name it….; 90°small blocs
out off a V2 and has put it in the v3 versions.

So the retracts come now nicely to 90° he told me by mail.
He will send me them back, so i'm looking forward to see them…

now, i have e jeti maxbec 2, whit 2 x A123 packs, a extra battery-pack for the ignition DLE35Ra….So already 3 battery-packs in the plane.
Since i have enough battery power, i don't like to use a separate pack for the retracts…

so can i just cut of the separate + and - form the black distributor en solder them on the wire that go's to the receiver, because the wire that go's to the receiver is now only for the signal use….

a bit difficult for me to explain (english is not my mother tongue) , i hope you guys understand me …..?

Did he say he has enough of the old trunions to retrofit the new V3s? Is there an additional charge?

Does he know if the mfg is going to update the V3s with the V2 design trunion?

@da rock...
no, i bought the complete new v3, but since the only came out for a 82° i have send them back, so he  has searched for a  solution and came with the idea to use the parts of a V2, so no charge for me of course....
i don't expect he has a lot of parts from v2 and i have no idea iff esm will make them 90° as they should be!

juweeltje, which distributor are your getting your retracts from? I don't believe we have the same problem with ours coming in the wrong degrees.

I cannot recommend you do this since that is not what ESM has recommended. It may work just fine though we have not tested and do not recommend this method. The only problem I see is when the retracts "stop" or "bottom out" the motor will draw a certain amount of amps and that may be a reason why they don't want you to share the battery with other crucial electronics.

A123s should have no problem keeping up with that kind of current draw. If you were using NiMH batteries, I would say no way, but therin lies the advantage of LiFe technology.

I use two 6.6V 1700 MaH LiFe batteries that each have two receiver leads coming off of them for a total of 4 leads. One lead from each battery goes to the receiver for redundancy. One of the remaining leads powers the ignition and another powers the retracts. I haven't had an issue yet and I use very high torque, high draw servos and every surface.

@Tone, i bought them here in Europe.....
@irocbsa, thanks for the info! ... since i use TWO battery packs AND no NiMh but A123, i wonder why i should use a extra pack only for retracts.... so irocbsa (or anyone here), are you using the same receiver  twin pack for your retracts?
is there any EASY way to mesure iff they still draw some amps when they have stopped?......

and i wonder, what would be the best way? option 1 or option 2 ???

Ju, not an expert but if you want to power your batterys from a separate pack option one .
This should keep the esc from seeing the power to the packs as you have a switch inline .
You could then run a Y harness from one pack and test to see if there is draw when at rest .
I would assume that there would not be draw unless you hear the unit stressing in a attempt to close or open due to inappropriate installation .However in these new retracts they are supposed to sence friction and simply stop at that point and shut down until activated to go in the opposiite direction
