Been thinking about a t32...I know there have been more than a couple super purshing builds but the t32 looks like a much better tank imo. It had the gun of the super purshing and had armor that would have made it a step up on the purshing. Where the m26 was designed to fight the panther and tiger 1, the t32 was designed as something to fight the king tigers and other tougher tanks in the pipe line from germaney. From what I have been able to find out, there were 2 prototypes made, one with cast armor and one with plate armor....here are some pics....

lets start with this...

here is the super purshing....

and the t32.....

As far as the build...looks pretty easy, start with 2 hl m26's cut one in half and section out a wheel and a upper wheel add that you the base hull....the rear deck looks pretty easy as it has the same greats as the m26, just a little different location and layout. the turret would need to be "jumboed" and the barret would need to be longer. I saw one person in the uk made one but hee kinda bailed on the turret on the front hull mods..what do you guys think?

Finish your e50 first! Just joshing ya, that does look like a candidate for an awesome build, with the skls you've developed in the (I must say excellent) e50 this should be easy!

Good luck...it'll be an awesome and huge tank when you get it done. I wanted to do a T-30, but that rear deck is just too much. Just getting my T-23 ready to roll. Swapping the Pershing's torsion bar suspension with VVSS was a lot more work than I had anticipated, but I finally got things mounted and lined up. Now ready to get with Don to get the interrior hooked up. Took it outside to see how it looked off my bench. Seems more guys are getting into early prototypes...lotsa work, but worth the effort. Looking close, the rear deck is about the same as M-46-47 and T-30 series, and does not look like Pershing grills. That would present a big obstacle. Either way, good luck.

If the T32 really sparks your interest and if it is a project that you would have great fun building......do it!. The challenge of a project like that and the satisfaction of owning "one of the few" makes it worth it. That is a neat looking tank and I considered doing it at one time, but never got around to it. I hope you do it. May I offer some advice? Plan your work, and work your plan. Measure twice, cut once. Never use a toothpick to apply a small drop of CA and then absent mindedly put the toothpick in your mouth.

Still working on that beast......doing that 3 door access hatch on the rear deck was a bear to get right but I think I have it beat now....now i am trying to figure out how the do the july 1945 king tiger shutters for the rear deck...like this.

I just want to get everything lined up if I am going to go the t32 going .....

Love the t23.....I would loose that extra ring they added to the bottom of the turret to fit the air soft on the mato sherman...I was really looking at the t32 reat deck after this post....

t32

m26

hl m26

Since I am going to be using 2 hl m26's in this build...I think I am going to be able to use the foward grills on the doner tank to make the rear grills that need to be squair rather than the angled ones on the m26.....these grills do not look like the ones on the m46...but I could be wrong.

Roger...I just sat the turret on for looks....yeah, that added ring has to go.... lots more work...and time, if I can find it.
Here's an M-46 rear deck....compare it with your photos. M-46-47 were the same and T-30-34 had similar decks. With that V-12 water cooled, pretty sure it had larger vents. Too bad the line drawings and photos aren't clear.

Nice photo of the Pershing grill doors....note the position of the lifting handles as what's on the HL tanks.

Good luck on the T-32....it'll be a something you can't do on a coffee break, for sure. At least you'll have oodles of room inside for electronic goodies. Do some sequence photos.

The AV-1790 was air cooled - hence the bigger vents

Correct on M-46-47,48 and 48A1. BUT the T-32 had a Ford 12 cyl GAC liquid cooled, not the Continental AV 1790.

The project looks quite feasible. Don't forget to raise the sproket and straighten the rear fender.
I'll bet in a production version those mufflers would be flat like the M46.

very cool...I will most likely buy what ever you have.

If anyone knows where there are more pics of this tank, throw me a link. I am not sure how the front hatches were done..there also seems to be no ventalator for the crew caben...when I look at this shot....

Cool. I have always fancied building either a T30 or T29 like at the PATTON Museum. Well, when it was there.

Even a T58 with the Oscillating Turret design would be different. But I haven't looked into that yet. Too busy on my 'other crap' I am ankle deep in.

I will be keeping an eye on this.

Jeff, If you ever decide to do a T-30, I can get you any amount of close details at any angle. We have one here in pretty decent shape...outside of the track entensions that some dumb axe cut off for shipping. I have interrior shots as well.

well I found this......

from here.......

http://serwisy.ioh.pl/pokaz-dzial/bron-pancerna/artykuly/prototypowe-czolgi-ciezkie-t-2

Seems to be one of the cast hull prototypes......Wish I could find one of the plate armor shots..they were supose to not have the hull gunner. I think the hatches were different and the hull ventalator seems to be gone or very different than the m26.

I really like the T-29 also. Now that is a TANK. i THINK THAT WOULD EVEN GIVE THE BIG kt'S and Jagdtigers a little pause.

The photos in Hunicutts Firepower and the one you just posted show a large ventilator on the rear of the turret..(same basic design as on the Easy 8 Sherman)..much better location since the cordite etc is in that area when firing. Not many good photos of this tank available. Might want to check Detroit Arsenal and ask for photos. I like the version with no bow gun....seems to have a more angled slope and higher with the driver & Bog hatches at more of an angle also. The photo you just posted is interesting....the track skirts are wider to accomodate duckbill connectors, but the tracks mounted are standard double pin. Man, you have generated a lot of interest in this tank. Be very interested to see that tank built.

I'd love to put a T-30 together, but that rear deck is a definate stopping point and the turret is so massive and would have to be totally scratch made. The only easy way to get in that turret is to use the mg stowage pintle at the rear as a step. Here's a couple photos showing the size of this monster. Inside the turret there is no room at all....that 155mm breech takes up most of the turret. The T-32 is much more do-able.
