We were looking at the contests scheduled in District 7 and saw that with the Whittier contest not being held this year that there was an opening to have a nice, fun, one-day Pattern meet in Lancaster, CA on June 23rd. This will be at the AVTI club field. You can get more info on the club and it's flying site at www.avti.org. I'll be the CD with scoring by Mike and Jean Greear. We are going to keep this low-key and fun. If you're familiar with Lancaster you know that we can often get some high winds, so we're going to keep an eye on the weather forecast and if it looks bad for the day we will cancel the event. We'll let everyone know through these forums and on our website.

We're hoping we can have a fun day of getting together with our friends and getting a bit of pattern flying in for the day. If you think this is a good idea and would like to attend, let us know!

Great! Sounds like there is good interest. BTW, we will be doing the same shortened Sportsman pattern as was flown in Bakersfield. But we will fly the full Intermediate pattern.

Not at this one. A little too much to get in on one day. But I will have a Classic Contest later in the year at Lancaster. I'm thinking November 3rd and 4th.

I just wanted to update a little on the contest. With some input from Sportsman pilots I've decided that we will fly the full Sportsman sequence, so you guys practice the whole thing! Also, if you want to stay for Sunday we will have a practice session at the AVTI field on Sunday, weather permitting. It it gets too windy for Lancaster on Sunday we may head down to the Bear Mountain field on Sunday.

Should be a fun weekend of flying!

Getting closer to our event on June 23rd! We are going to keep everything pretty low-key with the emphasis on pattern flying and fun. We'll have the Pilot's meeting by 8:30 with flying soon after that and we will fly as much as we can in the day. Lunch will be available on the field at a nominal cost. Entry fee will be $30 for all classes except Sportsman, which will be $25. In Sportsman you can fly any AMA legal model if you wish. We will also fly the full Sportsman schedule. F3A will hopefully fly 3 rounds of P-13 and one round of F-13, with the final score being the best three of all four. Those who would like to stay for Sunday also, we will have a Pattern Practice day on Sunday, weather permitting.

If the weather forecast on Thursday is not good for the event, especially if it is forecast to have high winds, we will cancel the meet. You can get more info on our website at www.avti.org. Updates on the meet will be put on our website, along with postings here.

Well, I'm sorry to say the forecast has soured and I'm going to cancel the event. It looked good for a while but now the forecast has just a bit too much wind in it to make the day enjoyable. Kind of a shame because Sunday's forecast looks much better. It's possible I may try to schedule this again later in the year.
