I have a completely stock hpi savage x 4.6.
It runs good. Problem is it will not idle for long. It will sit and idle but only for a few seconds.
And when it is sitting on the ground and I punch the throttle it kind of bogs down and then gets going, so its impossible to do a wheelie because of the bogging when I punch the throttle.
What should I do? From what I gather I should lean the low speed needle a tad....is that correct?
Thanks in advance, please help me out here.

EDIT: The engine has good smoke when it is at full throttle, if that helps.

2 things to look at. 1) Remove the air filter and look down in the carb. There should be a 1mm gap and not be fully closed. If its less than 1mm then you have to adjust the idle screw. With the engine off turn on your RX & TX and hold it at wide open throttle, then turn the idle screw about a half turn clock wise and apply the brake. Keep repeating until you get that 1mm gap.

2) If that is fine then turn the LSN clock wise about 1/8 turn at a time until she stays running.

You might also have to do both steps like I did when I first got my OS Engine. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Listen to what happens just before it dies. If it revs up and dies, the LSN may be too lean. If it gradually slows down and dies, the LSN may be too rich.

Once you get it so it will seemingly idle for ages, you are close. Final tune is adjusted for the best launch..i.e. bring it down to idle for about 5 seconds and then nail the throttle. Best LSN tune will be where the vehicle takes off the snappiest.

yes i would definately lean the low speed and 1/8 at a time, sounds like she is loading up with fuel while idling. Before you touch the low speed though, how is the high speed needle set? does the engine scream up top?

I think the high speed needle is good, and I also think the ide screw is good because it doesn't move when you put it on the ground and let it idle, but the wheels turn a little bit when you lift it off the ground.
It goes very fast and has good smoke at wide open throttle.
When you let it idle it kind of goes put put put...dead.
So I should lean the lsn a 1/8 turn, correct?
