Yeah!... The JC is back.. Proper nostalgia seeing some sweet images from the daddy of the top notch RCU jet photo! His flying is pretty sharp as well, although I think his caller had allot to do with it

RE: Top Gun 2012
Brief event report so far.
As I mentioned, the flying standard thus far has been superb. We are now done with all three rounds of Pro AM, and the jet guys look to be doing really well this year.
Dustin in the lead, and deservedly so. I was staging to fly when he went up, so I watched his flight with RJ my caller.... Damn! It was nigh on perfect. [X(] Second is Joey T with his big green saudi hawk.. Again, his flying is like watching poetry in motion. I forgot to take a photo of the rest of the score board, but will do today. After the top two, the scores are really, really close. So it's going to be a real interesting final round for sure!
Today see's Team scale start, so that should be interesting.... The weather was absolutely gorgeous yesterday. One of those days that you just wish for.. Ok, maybe a tad warm for the non floridians, but other than that perfect flying weather.
Not many incidents to report. Jack Diaz had a flame out with his F-100, in what can only be described as the worst position in flight possible ( Just coming up the runway into wind, low and slow) What an amazing save he pulled out of the hat!
The big A-6 from Team Selby flew, once. It had some gear issues that saw it having to do a belly landing. Perfectly executed, I think it got away without even a scratch.. Something that I doubt would have been possible if we were on the old hard runway
To keep it shirt, thats it for now. I will get another one done tonight/ tomorrow.
Regards Al

RE: Top Gun 2012
Ali modestly forgot to mention that he is currently in 3rd place after some equally kick ***** flying. And... He is doing this with a tiny Mig powered by his hair dryer
Pro Am Pro has got to be the most competitive class ever this year. It's mostly former Top Gun winners and the Who's Who of scale modeling. So, it is extremely close competition so far. With the first 3 rounds done, the top 12 pilots will now fly against each other, in front of the same judges on Sunday. Today at noon we will know who has made the cut. But, with competitors like Jack Diaz, Bob Violet, Ali Machinchy, Joey Tamez, Dino Digorgio, Dustin Buescher, Brian O'meara, Pablo Fernandes, Pete Goldsmith and at least 10 other high scoring pilots it will be a really tight race. Placing in the Top 10 in that company would be quite an achievement in itself.
Thanks for the comments on the photos. I've been out of the hobby for over 2 years concentrating on building my business and just started flying again a month ago. It's good to be back but I must admit my knees where knocking a bit the first couple of flights here. So, it was nice to relax a little with the camera and watching everyone else fly.
