Remember a while back where that guy posted about his new suspension design. He took a lot of flack as well as a bit of praise.

Anyway, I came across another design, which I think is better. I doubt it would be much use in off-road, but it may have potential for on-road.

But regardless of practicality, effectiveness, and all other opinions, I thought it might be fun for all of you to see.

Click on the link below, and when the page opens up, click on "How It Works" for an interesting animation.

I remember that dude
the one you linked is way more practical, and doesn't need a ton of heavy hardware that is very prone to bending to use.

That's what I thought too.

I had a similar design in my sketchbooks, again, right idea, born too late

I can't begin to tell you all the things ive written down and thought up that are just now being used, I want to be a automotive engineer, but i don't have $150,000 of mom and dad's money

I will get there but for now it hurts seeing stuff like this, I even had a name for it.

The patent office would chew me up and spit me out, I have a grant for Jr. college and next semester i am taking CAD and ceramics, so i can learn to shape car designs from clay and learn how to blueprint with 3D imagery, once i master that THEN i will take my ideas to market.... if they aren't already used

Watch and see, i'm not stopping till im in the big leather chair, and you will see some cool stuff!

said the same stuff

15 years ago I was curious why for example they didn't use an electric motor on cars, and use alternator on a small gas powered engine to charge the batteries(lead acid in my idea seeing lipos didn't exist) to give it a long run time... Now we have the chevy volt which does exactly that.
Honestly if I could go back in time I'd patent every friggin whacky idea I had(most are in production some way shape or form) and be a millionaire now.

That suspension is interesting. I could see if it were on production cars that it may help keep tire wear more even.

On the subject of missed oppertunities...
Who here is old enough to remember the first Atari game system, the first one with interchangable cartridges? When I first saw that I thought "Now why couldn't we put music on something like that?" No more tape jams (this was the era of 8 track tapes, before even cassette tapes became popular), no more scratches on records (the vinyl kind), small and easy to store, easy to transport, etc, etc, etc...
I still wonder why I didn't patent the idea. Heck, my Dad owned a couple patents so it's not like he wouldn't have helped me with the process.
Believe it or not I still think "Dumbass" everytime I play an I-Pod or any kind of digital music. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!!!!
Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Thanks for reminding me about this...

There actually was a nitro alternator, it was meant for planes and mounted behind the spinner. From what I hear, it worked alright, but I think they stopped manufacturing it.

id pay money for a sound module that emulates a gas engine for my electrics.
I know of tamiya's but its insanely expensinve.

I have had one of those V8 sound things that plugs into your 1:1 car and reads the voltage from the cig lighter port to judge RPMs and load and then sends a FM radio signal so you can play the sound threw the radio.
Those things only cost $30-$40. So why hasnt someone done the same thing with RC's? A module that reads the speed via the ESC signal and then puts out sound from a small speaker?
