Fellow tankers, me being a charter member of the Old Guard, operative term being 'Old', from time to time old wounds and injuries decide to remind one of just how foolish and carefree one can be in youth.

Seems that an old injury has raised it's ugly head again and I'll be spending every morning and early afternoon for the next two weeks in the Navy Hospital getting therapy and IV's. This would not normally merit even a mention except for one little detail. The Tovarich Polkovnik Doktor made passing mention that the meds will make me a tad woozy for some time after the therapy session is over, therefore commo from both me and the ETO sight may be a little slow. I intend to get all commo replied to within 24 hours, both emails and orders, and as an added safeguard VCO will read everything before I hit 'send' to make sure I am answering your missive or order and not sending you a reply copied from the 1000 Tasty Ways To Cook Tasmanian Goat Cook Book.

However, the good Doktor did say all this rigamaroll should work and fix the problem, at least for quite some time. He wasn't outside sharpening his oyster knife on the pavement yesterday so he may be telling the truth and doesn't need to cut and sew.

Anyhow, this is just to forewarn you lads that the commo will continue with no interruptions, just it may not be the usual quick response.

Sev

You have my best wishes for your recovery. I am finding myself in the same situation from time to time. Some of the bad decisions of my youth are beginning to catch up with me also.

Rex and all of you fine lads, thanks so much for the well wishes. I arrived at the digs 3 hours ago, according to VCO who is acting taxi driver. Let me tell you, I don't yet know if today's session helped my spine, but Lord Almighty, I got to get me more of that Kikapoo Joy Juice they pumped me full of! Tovarich Polkovnik Doktor started the IV at exactly 13:00. I remember him looking at me with VCO at his side and after the first three drops hit saying 'good night, Starshi Sarjant' with a grin. Now, at 18:00, it's only been the last 30 minutes I can see my toes, count them, and come up with the correct number of 14. VCO, bless her little heart, is sitting beside me as I one finger peck this missive out. She'll correct it when I'm done. I hope.

Again, thanks so much for all the well wishes. According to VCO the prognosis is good.

Bob

Pah co chu puk, actually the stuff isn't quite free, it's 4 bucks a jug. Still, not bad. It's pretty much worn off now. At least I can sit here and type without having VCO hold my head up by the three hairs on the back of my skull and guide my index finger to the keyboard. And the therapy seems to work. For the first time in I can't remember how long that stab of white pain is gone. The good thing is the Polkovnik Doktor told her I could have a glass or two of wine when it wore off. Here's me thinking he didn't specify what size glass and I'm thinking iced tea tumbler. Sigh. VCO just brought me a glass of good Massandrah. I didn't know we had wine glasses that small. Think thimble for a pygmy.

Sev, I hope you feel better. I know how you feel. I am in constant pain too...nothing seems to help for very long. Sucks to have old injuries keep haunting you.

I would have been worried if you came up with an odd number for your toes such as 15, but since you have 7 on each foot, you are good to go!!

I'm not sure if it was odds or evens per foot, or even if it was an odd number of foots, but whatever they did, I feel pretty good this morning. Back is stiff as heck but the pain is gone. OIC has put me on light duty for the weekend and the Disciplinary Cudgel is at hand in case I lift anything heavier than a ham sandwich. From the look in those pretty brown Turkoman eyes methinks for once I better listen to her.

Glad to ghear you feeling a bit better, Some light duty won't hurt either. A Bit of advice however..................If that Ham Sandwich get's to be to much of a strain for you, Have her cut it into four pieces

Take care Bob.

Bob: In January I had a lumbar epidural injections because of bad lower back pain. I could not move sometimes, could not turn over in bed. Sometimes it took my breath away. If ever there
was a instant fix this was it. As soon as I stood up the problem was gone. Hope you have as good of results as I.
