Hi All!
I would like to find an in the water speed sensor. I know some people use GPS, cell phones, etc. and the intendend use is for a submarine so GPS, cell phones, etc. do not work underwater. Does anyone know of something? I know Eagletree makes a sensor however the sub would look very strange with a pitot tube sticking out the front!
Thanks in advance, Ed

Only other ones I know of are basically water pressure style speedometers that are in no way accurate. Eagletree is perhaps the better option plus telemetry will give you feedback while underway (useful with a sub I imagine).

Thanks justaddwata!
Yes I am familiar with the Eagletree system. It uses a pitot tube which must be clear of the hull and is based upon differential water pressure, that is the difference between the incomming water pressure vs the static water pressure which is why looking at thier pitot tube there are two small tubes at the back. There are also other common systems such as using a "paddle wheel" and you are counting the RPM. At: http://www.flowmeter.com/ you can see the various methods to measure flow (speed). What causes inaccuracy is when the temperature of the water is not included and compensated for. It just seemed to me that with all the speed boats that a speedometer would be a basic "tool" and so far all that I have found are units that are too large for models. Best, Ed
