50cc to electric
I have been reviewing the setups that have been posted here and on other foums.

Since I process information better when boiled down and consolidated, I made a list of the motors I have seen people usssing on their 50cc birds. I went to google to find weights, prices and power. This is what the list looks like.

I hope that table comes out readable.

Clearly, if price is no object, the Hacker Q80 and Plettenberg Terminator are the best when it comes to power to weight ratio. And the Scorpion is close.
But the Turnigy is also close, and it is much less expensive.

Other than giving up a few ounces, and a few watts, is there any other downside to this motor?

On the data side, I am perfectly willing to admit that there could be factual errors. I did a quick scarf from manufacturers and retailers pages. Let me know if there are errors and I will post a corrected list.

I have no direct experience of that particular Turnigy motor, but you can reckon on being alone if you ever had a problem with it. Both Hacker and Plettenberg have reputations to uphold and will take care of their customers. The Turnigy probably also loses out on efficiency, too, but it is cheap!

Rimfire 50cc? Its a good middle ground on power and price with good customer service. My buddy flies one on a 12 telemaster using 10s. The performance is incredible. I am putting together a great planes Pitts M-12 and will be using a rimfire 50cc.

I am working on the planning phase of a Electric Conversion on a 1/3 scale Great Planes Pitts. I believe a Hacker A60-14L, Hacker Acro 90 AMP ESC and 10S TP 4600 mAh Lipo pack would work. Like I said, still planning. Vince have you begun your conversion yet?

The last price I saw for the Suppo 7035-9 190kv motor was $249. Motor weight is 48ozs. I used 12s with a 23/10 Falcon prop to get 4200 watts, 5.64 hp working out to 87.5 watts per oz. Motor is rated to spin a 24/12 on 12s to 6000watts. Even with the 23/10 prop, it proved to have way more climb than a pair of DA 50's on cannisters using 23/8 CF props. fwiw flytreetimes

BP Hobbies has the Suppo 7035-9 (190kv) currently listed at $205.95, BP rates the motor at 4500watts continuous. The 6000watt rating is from the Suppo motor sight. fwiw flytreetimes
