Dear members,

let me introduce yourself first :
I'm not experienced modeller, but an RC sub is my old dream, because I'm retired submarine officer. I served in Russian Navy 12 years since 1985 till 1997 , my subs are :
K-184 Echo II class, position - junior navigation officer, then K-119 Oscar II class, position-senior navigation officer, my last position was TK-12 Typhoon class- executive officer 1994-1997. My military rank is Captain of 2nd rank (equal Captain in U.S. Navy, Royal Navy or Fregattenkapitän in German Marine)
Now I live in Germany since 2002 and work in steel trade company - no more subs but steel pipes
On the market there are a lot of complicated, big and expensive RC subs as Engel & OTW or small and primitive toys without RC proportional control as Funworks USS Dallas or Graupner U16. Unfortunately is nothing available as RTR/ARTR model (or toy) in mid-price segment (approx. max 60-70 cm long / up to price 300-400 USD ) to play it on vacations in hotel's pool. I have seen a nice Chinese–made RTR warships (German Bismarck, Russian destroyer, torpedo boat etc.) on EBay now, but no fine RTR RC subs...
I like historical subs models more as modern subs and find optimally (dimensions, details) as “holidays toy” an 1/150 Academy IXB U-Boat.
Thus, now I'm looking for experienced modeller for RC Conversion of small 1/150 Academy IXB U-Boat with following features :
- optimally as RTR equipped with 40 MHz RC devices (in Germany frequency 40 MHz for the ships models is only allowed).
- dynamic diving
-maximum usability, i.e. external socket for battery loading, transport case to pack it inside a holidays suitcase
Thus, rather toy, as serious model. I made some time ago a Japanese WW II I-400 sub from similar kit made by Doyusha, but a RC conversion is unfortunately too complicated for me.
I have seen some fine RC conversions of this model here :

The model can be send directly to my address in Germany or as alternative to address of my friend in USA.
Thank you so much for your replies. Contact for offers : PM
Kind regards from Germany
Dimitri
PS Sorry if my English is not perfect

Hi from Florida USA!
Have you checked out the Neptune SB-1 by ThunderTiger  ,I love the one I have its been so reliable ,its like a Toyota just goes and goes very well so much that I have modified to do even more!great platform in other words.
But I might be interested in building your sub I can modify it to your needs, but realy the best Holiday sub is the Neptune it is not too big or too small but super reliable and it can be made to look like a Soviet sub mm..Muire 1 or 2 ?

Let me know PM me Thanks Dave see my other posts here Aquasub

Hi Dave !

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know Neptune SB-1, it costs ca EUR 500  in Germany, so not really cheap, that's not the point. I find the models of historical WWII subs with their gunnery,  wood deck, knights... etc more interesting as modern subs.

Anyway thank for the info.

Indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I was beginning to think those magnificent looking WWll subs were just an obsession of mine.  Ha!
Maybe that's exactly what it is, because I sure as heck don't see anything in the Nuke boats. Then again, " To each his own".

I'm started assembly & convert to RC the Academy Kit IXB U-Boat just now, it must  be my first RC project.  Some parts are still to buy : ESC, Transmitter, Battery. Hope for success
