That's what I use to charge my LiFe batteries too.

I had to thin Balsarite down too.

Think Silk

This is one outstanding charger , not expensive at all and if you want to charge any type of batt's order the harness.

Hope it helps.

Charging harness:

I just got the same charger and it's got to be the easiest and its most versatile charger I've had. It'll charge just about anything, and for the price can't be beat.

I forsee several more finding their way into my workshop in the near future.

Silk was definitely my first choice, but I tried like heck on a 1/2a bombshell last year and failed miserably. I finished it in silkspan and it came out great, but i kept poking holes in it. I am pleased with the way this coverlite is coming out. I think I added less than two ounces to the total weight, and it seems a bit more sturdy than the silkspan.

I haven't seen the plane, but a guy used a Medallian .09 on one and said it was good, and the Cox .049 wouldn't get it going.  It is a bit lighter than a Magnum because of the muffler.  The fuse looks a bit weak on the back  I would add a few extra stringers, or thicker ones at least.  You can always throttle down witha bigger motor.  Get a good idle.  Most overpowered models have the wing fold up or can't land because of  idling too fast.  Most of my .10 stuff is 36" to 45" span.

The TT.07 handles like a .40 size engine, you'll love it.

I'm flying it with a .049 and it works great.

Is the .049 a reedie or a proper one like a Norvel or Tee Dee?

I built one 4 years ago for my 7 year old daughter to learn on, no gear, hand launch, 3 channel. Reedie is too small. Ended up using a Cox 09 medallion with the barrel throttle I had hanging around. Worked great. Go for a .074 and a 7 X 3 prop. Least I would try is an .061 NV or ASP. The TT 07 is ok, but why carry the weight?

Reed, .049 Sure-Start and I really like the combo. I have gear but the nose wheel is fixed. All flights start as hand launch.

I tried to get her done this weekend but it has been pouring non-stop since Friday. I really just need to paint and put it all together. I also got held up on the worst part of any build for me. Getting the @#$%@^ control horn to lineup with the back plate. I will use this Coverlite again. It goes on pretty easily and seems very light. The paint adds more weight than I would have guessed so I think I'll be over my 1 1/2 lb target. Hopefully I'll know soon.

The problem I have with the reedies on a larger plane is that you need to run a 5X3 to get any rpm/power. This is fine under perfect conditions, the 3" pitch will fly it fast enough, the problem is the 5" prop. If a cow farts on the other side of the field, all forward motion stops. I prefer a motor that will spin a 6X3 or 7X3 at the same rpm. It flys the same speed but has enough thrust to push through an 8mph wind. Just my 2 cents.

I had problems at first, started with a 6X3 and it didn't have enough oomph. Switched to a 6x4 and have been happy since .

The news tonight showed a lot of pictures of some flooding down there in Pensacola. Good luck with your maiden, and stay dry .

Thanks bolar! The water receded pretty quickly. It was like watching a hurricane without the wind. I'm high so we had no issues. Lots of submerged cars.

I finished her up tonight. Balances well and came in at 23 oz. I tried to crunch the numbers and the wing loading seems about 2/3 that of my Kadet Senior. The Senior weighes about 8 lbs (I had to add 9 oz of lead to the nose of the Senior).

No excuses, I will try to get her in the air this weekend. Any last minute advice bolar?

Looks good, I don't have much advice. She is going to fly as good as the big one. Have Fun .

So, Which Kadet is the one that had the foam wing? My Dad had one of these when I was a kid that was probably my first RC airplane to get to play with. I used to drive it up and down our driveway with no wing on It had a foam wing and a fully sheeted fuselage. It was a almost .25 size plane but it had a Enya .09(engines werent cheap back then!) It actually flew decent for being as underpowered as it was. I remember people at the hobby shop almost not believing us when we told them it had a .09 Anyone know which model this was? Todd

They made a series of them, I had the Super Sport and the Cub, never had the Cadet one though. I think they used the same foam wing as the Mid-West Cardinal all foam plane. I think it was with a C not a K because it wasn't one of the planes designed by Claude McCullough.

Wow Rich...That seems right? I remember the box was hanging above a garage workbench for probably the first 15 years of my life...I always wondered why I couldn't remember anything in the name except "Cadet" and it had boggled me as there are so many variants I knew it wasn't what I saw pictured as the original Kadet. If it was spelled with a C that makes perfect sense! Todd
