At BITW last year I almost drug John Redman so I can steal the demo E-flite F-4 he brought to BITW. I got a chance take a look really close and scatch my head. How I'm goes to do this with Jetcat P-20.
Well the week before I got my in. I'm just like the kid can't wait to open the box.
Stay up really late finish in 13 hrs with all the mod I put into so to make it work for turbine.
But I finish with E-power first for the maiden.
Well the maiden when bad. The motor got short out right before take off. Too late to abort. So it when in the puddle of water and mud.
Damage the wings.
Get home and looking around for another kit. Lucky one the member on Groups had one he willing to sell. I jump on it and got in 4 days later.
Once again. Work all night to get it fly on sunday.
I got two flight on sunday. Still working on the landing first two flight. Yesterday got another flight and she is dial.

Here is the video tell my story.

This F-4 actually is very easy to convert to turbine.
I break out the former to fit in 2 sullivance 10 oz tanks.
Making new former to mount the turbine and pipe.
I move the elevator and rudder servo to the rear. The stock are on the fiberglass ducting. That got to goes out.
It is very tight in the office. But it can be done and still kept right on C.G.
BTW, I flew at 6.25" and it take off really nice and much easy to slow her down to land.
Now I really enjoy flying it.
Can't wait to fly her again next weeken with all the upgrade undercarriage.

IT way too nose heavy.
My third flight I move it back 6.25".
IT slow down much better and high alph coming for landing.
Take off weight over 8 lbs it had plenty of power from the P-20.
Landing weight 7.3 lbs with 4oz reserve for 2 goes around.

Way cool Tam,
Ok feed us some info. What would be the weight and TOW (Full of fuel) with P20 Setup? Whats going to be in your upgrade kit, would you include the former and rear servo plate? What would be the ideal undercarriage? I am assuming anything over 7lbs will need stronger gears than the EFlite plastic stuf.. where you able to clock it, what do you think is the top speed with P20?

this looks pretty awsome TAM.

Working on the complete package. The machine are running right now making struts for it.
The wood former I had trace and made the copy for customer to cut out or if I had it cut than be extra $$$$.
The E-flite 15-25 retract work just fine with my upgrade parts.
I'm the best pilot demo how good the gear are with my upgrade struts and trunion.
Another week I should everything together for complete turbine conversion with undercarriage.

Here is few demo video of the E-flite 15-25 size gear with out upgrade parts.

The L-39 and the Viper Jets weight over 11 bls.

Watch the slam carrier landing on this video.

Nice work Tam. $400.00 buy a lot of green bottles. Or you could bring it to Tecumseh,Nebraska and show us how it is done in Cal.
Mark said dancing girls across the street from flying site. You go their we fly your F-4.

Do you have any trouble with your P20-shutting down when you bring it to Idol?

Last night just clean up my plane and notice my turbine wheel is tight and it hard to spin over.
Took the engine and clean the dirt built up and fire her up.
Wow, I been flying with less power all this time.
As usual....me only fly. Didn't check my RPM because the engine been running many cycles not thinking had any issue.

Anyways there is more speed this F-4 can do.
