So after stripping my topshaft gear twice I finally picked up a set of Robinson Racing steel trans gears. I have a revo 3.3 brushless conversion and I bought the gear set for the revo/t-max 3.3 trans. Every gear fit perfectly EXCEPT the output gear.

You can see from the pics below that the output gear does not slide onto the shaft far enough. The diagram that came with the package shows parellell slots on the shaft that the included grub screws are suppose to sit in securing the gear, my shaft is smooth. The stock gear has a pin.

Besides the case not closing, the shaft end can't clear the case in order the attach the drive shaft.

Stock position below

So what's the deal? Has the output shaft changed? Did I get the wrong gear?

Also a side question, anyone have experience locking second gear with a RR steel 2nd? The wholes are bigger do I'm guessing i'm going to have to tap threads and use bigger screws.

Thanks for the help but that's definitely not going to work. The shaft has two diffrent size diameters. You can see the size difference in the pictures I posted tho subtle. Part of the gear fits over the larger dia (with space to spare) and part fits snugly on the smaller dia. The gear just runs out of small dia to be in the correct position. Also even if it was at the correct position the RR gear doesn't use a pin but two grub screws at right angles to each other. The shaft is smooth all the way along and the grub screws have no flat or irregular surfaces to hold onto...imagin a pinion holding a round shaft in stead of a D shaped one.

Solved....

I forgot that the Traxxas FOC kit comes with a new output shaft. I dug the old one out and it's a perfect fit. Woops...

Thanks
