My father has a GP Old Timer that he just loves. (for those who don't know what it is, it's an older looking plane...his vote is Cessna 170, with three channels and a polyhedral wing)...his has an OS 52FS which is more than enough power to take off with wheels...I want to make him some floats for it so he can fly off a local lake at home (he's flown several float planes before)...I was thinking of floats ~38" foam core, with one layer of glass (<= 3 oz) and then one layer of kevlar (<= 3 0z) and then paint them...I know that kevlar is difficult to work with, but i think it would really help cut down on the wear and tear....

so anyway, I'm looking for any thoughts, ideas, comments on this good or bad, i'm prefectly open to criticism (or praise )

Thanks!
