Here is a picture of my new plane. I'm so excited to fly it! Headed out to the garage with DPS plans and ended up with this. I have some measurements, I was wondering if someone could tell me if the CG is correct.

Span - 49"
Wing Root - 11" w/ailerons 13 5/8"
Wing Tip - 11" w/ailerons 11 1/2"
Fuse Length - 30"
CG - 2 7/8" from LE

It feels a little nose heavy now, taxied around in my front yard and the tail will come off the ground with no elevator input.

At http://www.spadtothebone.com/SPAD/Qhor/index.html

I've got one of these with a TT46 and it's a blast to fly.

try balancing @ about 30% cord or on the spar if it is around the 25 to 30 % range. I think it will fly where it balances now though.

I can't really say it is based on one plane, so I'll explain my train of thought.
1. Started last night with the tail feathers for a DPS. I didn't like the round vert. stab. look, so I squared it up a bit, trying to keep the same area. The horizontal stab is straight off the DPS plans.

2. Tried building the DPS wing this morning, but was having a heck of a time bending the LE, since all I have is 4 mil coro. I looked to my SPA3D, but I wanted a symmetrical to semi-symmetrical airfoil. I loosely based the measurements on the DPS wing, then built the fuse, and slid it into place

3. I wanted an aluminum fuse, and originally thought about using a ladder setup, like the BUHOR. After much deliberation (3 minutes, to be exact), it seemed that the ladder would be too heavy, and the extra stiffness wouldn't be necessary. I like the look of a low wing plane, so the single aluminum channel seemed like it would fit the bill. I kept the fuse the same length as the DPS, now I wish it was a tad longer, to help the CG.

4. The engine mount is loosely based on the SPA3D, and the LG are store bought.

5. I don't care for the look of wires and radio equipment, so I cut a hinged lid on the top of the wing. The battery is zip tied to the spar on the left, and the receiver is on the right. All I have to do is remove one screw to access the electronics.

6. The tail wheel is based on Tatoo's bent-wire design, only there is no wheel, just wire. When taxiing on blacktop you would think that there is a wheel, it is so responsive.

If anyone wishes, I could post more photos or details. Adios

How does one of those tailwheel wires work in grass?

The wire works like a charm in the grass. With this plane I can give it a tiny bit of down elevator and the tail comes up, then I can steer with the rudder. In taller grass, I can give it down elevator, full right rudder, and full throttle, and it spins donuts fast enough to make you dizzy just watching it!

Daddyo57, I'm using an Evolution bb .46 with an 11x4 APC to start with.

RLT 55, this is what sets it apart from the QHOR.
