Status: offline 		There is an old timer in our club that is an excellent flyer.  One of the younger RC guys asked him a question while we were setting up our planes.   He said: "How did you ever become such a terrific rc flyer?"   The old timer's response was:  "I have built and flown and wrecked  every model airplane in the Tower Catalog learning how to be a good pilot" !!!!!!!

Status: offline 		My dear old Dad of 80 who is still active in R/C always told me that when he was flying R/C in it's infancy that:

" A successful R/C flight was when you took off and landed in the same square mile and found your model the same day!"

I'm 55 and as a little snot-nosed kid I can remember those times. Dad let me carry the transmitter out into the open field and even though I was young and small it seemed to weigh as much as a cinderblock.
