Thanks allot guys. Glad you like it. I am loving it. Another great day with it today and three more flights. Some decent photos int he sunshine to come.

Answers...

Prop is A Biela Turbo prop 3 blade ( It has Turbo prop written on it ) and is 24x 14

Centre of Gravity.... is somewhere on the wing I didnt do a precise measurement but I did put my fingers on the front edge of slot that the main oleo retracts into.

Air intake.... its a JC so its not overly sensitive . Nor does it need any attention paying to blocking off the hot gases etc etc. The turbine is just breathing ambient air from inside the fuselage.

Light set.. Is from Airfighter.... Not on the website as yet. But will be soon.

Yes, I do love my local flying strip. To have that less than 1 mile from my back door is like a dream come true.

Very Lucky! Euan

Was the turbine install really difficult in this model ? I really don't like the long nose TP version but I would really like to use a TP. Your pictures look awesome compared to the long nose....

It was very easy ( according to my builders ) and we have also supplied one to a customer who with our help has also fired the TP to the short nose. In fact my customer has improved greatly on the way mine is done and his is looking superb.
I hear what you are saying about the long nose version. Although we have a long nose in the build right now for a customer and I am hoping that with a few changes we can improve on the looks. If like me its the short/ standard Siai 260 nose that you like, then I have no hesitation in suggesting that you go for one. You will love it, its great looking and even better flying plane. Let me know if you need a quote for a kit? We can also supply the light sets and the specially made exhausts.
Regards Al

Thanks for your answer.

I have already ordered my kit (going through my Comp-Arf local representative...) but for sure I will take your offer on the exhausts and the lights. Both items look great in your plane. I will send the request by PM.

Is there a special mounting that you would need to use for the TP ? It was locally made ? Can you supply it ?

Any pictures of the necessary modifications would be highly appreciated.

Hi all
Just thought i would post some pictures of my siai marchetti 260, I would like to thank Ali for all his help with the engine conversion!Like Ali said the conversion was not too difficult to do,
Mind you i would say that seeing as i ripped off his engine install :-)

Just a few more niggly bits to do then its ready for the maiden.

I need to see that at Elvington

It looks great. If I don't have to move abroad then I might be interested in one of those in a year or so

Carf had a fleet of these flying at Euroflugtag very impressive indeed, especially with Thomas Singer and Stephan Volkan on the sticks.

Very nice Ian......but for goodness sake get someone in the office though, I hate to see thousands spent on a "ghost" plane; and to think I always thought props were for boats

Anybody that has done the TP conversion to the original model could provide some more specific information on how it has been done ? I'm getting the short nose Marchetti but I would still like to do a TP version and would like to understand how difficult the modifications are.

How are you managing to get fresh air from the inside the fuselage ? The Tucano has some fresh air entrance in the bottom rear of the plane, buy I don't see it in this model. In Ian's picuteres I see a modification in the top part of the firewall. Is that for allowing fresh air to go in the fuselage ?

Hi
As the picture shows the installation of the TP is straight forward , you need to make 4 standoffs 118 mm long, a forward gear box mount
And on the inside of the fuzz you need to install 2 mounting brackets to bolt the turbine down.

Regarding the top vent this serve's two purposes it allows you to slide the turbine through the hole in the firewall and then to bolt it down
Onto the wooden rails, also it allows fresh air into the fuzz to feed the turbine

Hope ths helps

Great work Ian, and thanks for the photos ( The other Ian ) I can't wait to see this one all done and dusted. The subtle touches that have been added all over this model really make a difference. I am especially jealous of the opening cowling panels. My next one will have those fitted, or maybe this winter I could incorporate them into my existing model?
If you need a driver for it Ian, just shout. I have a spare one here that is just sat looking at me in the workshop ( Most disconcerting ) He sat in the office of my Siai for the first few flights till the YT Tailored pilot arrived, and I would be happy to loan him to you till yours shows up.
Regards Al

I have been flying my Marchetti quite a bit ( Certainly for me ) recently. The more I fly it the more I love it. Best thing I did was fit a JR 370A Gyro on the rudder. Straight away it got rid of that little tail wag which the Marchetti used to display at various speeds. I would throughly recommend this to anyone.
I managed to get some flights in this past weekend at the British model flying association National championships. The Siai went down really well with the spectators on the showline. Considering its not a rocket ship, or hugely aerobatic, I was really surprised with how well it was received. It must just be the sweet looks and the smooth flying of the Siai that makes it such a head turner.

Just thought I'd throw in, Ali has always been the consummate professional and the Siai Marchetti proves yet once again that an exquisite aircraft and exceptional pilot will always make a winning combination.
