Status: offline 		The Irvine 25 is adequate for the Sonic, I even flew it in a competition Sun but I think I will go in a different direction and throw my Saito 40 on it to see what happens.

Status: offline 		OK, the Saito is oiled and put up for the winter. I decided to try and get some speed out of the Sonic. I installed my ported and polished Thunder Tiger GP42 with a pipe.
I wanted something that was light and powerful. And I have never flown a piped engine before. That Saito was certainly a trouble free runner and made good power on the Sonic.

Status: offline 		I have flown the Sonic as a single engine plane and also as a twin engine, twin fuselage (a la Twin Mustang) plane.

The Sonic, in my opinion, is over weight for a .25 sized plane. I forget the exact numbers, but it weighs nearly as much as a ball bearing .46 powered World Models Sky Raider Mach II. It does fly well and doesn't seem to have any bad characteristics.

For my Double Sonic, I used 2 OS .46LA engines. These engines and the LA .40 are plain bearing and fairly light. They are only an ounce or so heavier than my OS .25FXs with Jett pipes. It has been said that the LA .40/.46 are the best .25 equivalent engines ever made for a sport plane. I firmly agree with this statement.

My Double Sonic came out the same weight as a Double Mach II with 2 OS .46AXs, 7.5 lbs.

Status: offline 		Duuuuuude!!! Thats awesome. I dont see any better value in an ARF anywhere. The 25 flew it OK but not stellar. The .40 four stroke was really sweet and got good mileage. The GP42 should be a hoot. My buddy has a Doppler program so I can know how fast it is.

Betcha I can get more power out of my GP42 than an OS46LA.

Status: offline 		It was a poor choice at our local club to use as a combat contest plane. Most of the guys here are one foot in the grave, so it was more a crash festival and an exercise on hiding my laughter. I didn't like it at all. Flies like crap. I hear it's fun with a .46 on it, but so is any .25 size model.

Status: offline 		I put a GMS .32 in mine and made it a tail dragger. The twin is a cool idea but how does it handle with an engine out? I also added an inch to the rudder on mine since I like more rudder throw with the tail dragger.
