I have been through 3 ST mufflers for this engine. They are not built well. Baffles keep falling out. I'm done with these but need choices for a replacement muffler.

I have an Italian S90K with the stock ST "swing" muffler and haven't had any problems with it. The S90 and G90 should have the same muffler bolt spacing. The muffler I have isnt the "quiet" muffler, as it doesnt have a baffle inside. I dont know how much quieter the quiet muffler is, but my muffler never comes loose and isnt that offensive noise-wise.

A video of my 90 running, if you're interested. The camera geeks a little so the picture stinks, but the audio seems okay..

I use a header with a mousse can type muffler. I use a tuned pipe mount to support the can. It will fix the muffler issue and give you a nice power boost.

Call Dub Jett and get a Jettstream muffler.  They are by far the best, but kind of expensive.  They give a modest power boost and will last forever if you do not plow it into the runway.  Stay away from any Pitts style mufflers for performance and tuning reasons.  Macs makes nice mufflers and tuned pipe headers for a reasonable price and are of high quality as well.

Good Luck
Scott

The MAC's one piece Pro or Sportsman mufflers come to mind.

Bisson also makes a Sport muffler that is a good candidate too. Bisson doesn't just make Pitts mufflers.

Since the muffler screw hole spacing is 47mm, any muffler with a 47 to 48mm screw spacing becomes a potential candidate. Such as the Jett 90 muffler too.  If I remember correctly, the K&B .65 Sportster engines use that same hole spacing as well.

the Bisson pitts muffler for the G90 is their 2175 muffler which is listed on the bisson website for $56.00 USD.

If it were me, and stock mufflers were out of the question, I'd spend the extra $40 for the Jettstream as I think they look nicer and they give an easy 1000-1500rpm boost. If DIY is your style, a Mousse Can Pipe is the other way to go for a nice boost.

I personally think Pitts mufflers are ugly and most that I've looked at have too little expansion volume causing either no gain or loss in performance. That's just me though.

Are you using vibration isolation engine mounts with the mufflers mentioned above? Many engine manufacturers will not warrant engines, parts or accessories when used in conjunction with a such an engine mount.

Just run in without the baffle. It's common for these to get a loose baffle. If you shake the muffler to get the baffle to the front of the muffler, you can twist it with a pair of long nose plyers and pull it out.

Now that's an idea... They must be flimsy little things.
