Hello everyone,

I have just bought my first turbine (P80SE) which I am setting up on the bench to test run. I have read somewhere that the turbine can be started and run without a receiver being attached by simply plugging the RX throttle cable from the ECU into the airspeed sensor socket on the ECU. Then the whole system powers up when you plug the battery in, which it does!

This all looks very convenient for bench testing as it means I won't have to unwire my receiver from another model. However, as it is not mentioned anywhere in the manual, I am wondering whether this is an acceptable way to do things? Also, how do you shut down the turbine like this?

Can anyone throw some light on it for me?!

Thanks and best wishes,

Luke

The directions are (or at least were) in the manual. You start and shut down the same way with the manual and ignition button. Use + and - along with the manual key to increase/decrease rpm.

Thanks KC36330,

Certainly no mention of it anywhere in my manual, I guess they've taken it out. I was cautious about starting it up like this unless I could be sure of shutting it down safely! I gather that if you press the manual and ignition buttons at the same time, the start sequence initiates. If I press them together again, does it initiate an auto shutdown sequence or a 'hard' instant shut? I guess there's one way to find out.

This is all very useful to know but I am just nervous about damaging something. Why would they take it out of the manual if it is ok to do it?

Best wishes,

Luke

No idea why it's not in current manuals. When I get back home I'll upload you the full manual opperation directions as I'm sure I've still got them somewhere.

On the manual shut down, it's instant (no rpm rise) but has cooling.
