kitfox1,

Ya- hoo on the Bootlegger canopy. Could I possibly get the base dimensions width and length or an outline with width and length? I would like to adjust the plan so it fits.

I pretty much have the fuse plan finished. Here's the preliminary pdf plan and a jpg.

Hi y'all,

Molds came out OK and are mounted permanently on their bases. Tomorrow I will do the final sanding and the parting wax will be put on the mold/s for a total of 10 coats. After that it will be the PVA for a total of four coats and then I will make the first canopy.
I will post the dimensions tomorrow for those of you that need the dimensions to make adjustments in your drawings/plans. Happy Fourth of July.

Hi y'all,

The lenght of the canopy is 60.5 Centimeters.
The width at the front is 7.5 Centimeters.
The width at the center is 7.85 Centimeters.
The width at the rear is 7.75 Centimeters.

The width dimension are the outside dimension of the canopy and due to some degree of flexibility of the fiberglass/epoxy we will be able to make it a little bit larger or smaller. I should have the first canopy by Sunday. Does any body have a Gelcoat spray gun that would like to part with at a reasonable price. PM me if you have one.

Hi y'all,
I am back and I must tell you that is and it was hot up the east coast. I am sorry I did not see the request about the additional dimensions, but I will get them once I remove the first canopy from the mold. With the present temperature it should take less time for the epoxy to cure.

Have you started sheeting the cores? You seemed happy with the quality of work from Don.

Kitfox how is the pipe tunnel Fuse top project coming along anything out of the mold yet?

Good evening,

The first canopy is out of the mold and the second canopy is presently in the mold. I am enclosing a picture and I think it came OK with the aircraft structure epoxy that I am using. This canopy has my name on it, the next one has Dave Phillips name on it. Let me or Dave know if you need one. I plan to make them as they are needed and requested.

I am also in the final steps in getting ready an original Dirty Birdy canopy plug. Thanks to Dave who was very kind to loan me his original kit DB canopy so I could make a copy. I know my DB is going to look better with this canopy. Have a nice evening.

Chris - I have been buying from Lone Star Balsa for many years. www.lonestar-balsa.com Fast service and excellent quality. There are probably other suppliers available. I have gotten great product, and fast shipping. Most of what I buy is 6" X 1/16". I wrap the LE on my wings, and their skins are always up to the job.
It has been a while since I ordered from them, and am sure they are still in business. Part of their ad below.
Vince

Guys,

from now on any post I have about the Bootlegger will be on this thread, as it is about building the airplane, not drawing up plans.
and Bryan you need to read post 55,56 and 75 and tell me that you did not know who Kit fox or Juilo was !!!
I'm not going to wast anymore of my time playing silly games with you about some stupid 30.00 that you said I tryed to Bilk Juilo out of

Gentlemen,

it would be nice if we could keep this thread civil. An entire page on the other thread seemed more than plenty. A cool cloth on the forehead or a stiff single malt Scotch often does the trick for me...

Julio,

I just sent you a PM regarding the wing plan and airfoil templates. Please drop me a line when convenient.

Thanks, David

PS If anyone needs a CAD wing/stab plan with airfoils and templates for cutting cores, just send me a PM, I'll be happy to forward them.

Gentlemen:

I will continue to delete any and all posts that continue with this dog-fight that's going on between several here in this thread or any other thread for that matter.

I have notified the Forum Manager about the activity here and in the other Bootlegger thread and I have deleted the offending posts.

Please, keep it civil. If I have to, I will lock this thread down. I don't want to take that step because it has been going on quite well until, as said, one page, where the immature behavior started. Don't force me to take that drastic action.

KEEP IT CIVIL!
