I just got the TC3 Racer kit. Bone stock so far. I'm just trying to compile a collective list or ideas from other owners and/or racers. What upgrades have any of you noticed were absolute must-haves? What modifications worked out best. First thing I changed was this... etc.

Thanks.

I bought sway bars for mine, that's the only upgrade to date. I installed them on the front and immediately noticed a difference in the handling.

For my money I like the RPM Extended Front Bumper. Not a performance upgrade as such but it sure saves on front supension replacement parts. Pays for itself with a few good crashes. And I tend to crash a lot ... RPM number 80292.

Are you on a budget , if not i would definitley recommend a 10 turn or lower motor, makes a huge difference, and then get some good gearing, then i would definitley recommend 3300 battery packs

I started with a team kit. first upgrade was to the factory shocks with unobtanium shafts, you can't beat the threaded shock bodies when trying to dial in ride height at the track. The next thig was the Wide RPM bumper and a trinity foam bumper pad. The third was an aluminum servo mount with the mount for a transpnder, its alot better than punching a hole in your body to mount the transponder, but it does add weight. I am going back to the original mount and getting a personal transponder. When ever I have to raplace a ball end I use the RPM ones. Now I am working on getting it lighter, I am about 3.5 ounces over weight, So all the steel is slowly being switched out (screws, outdrives, etc)

Well what are you going to do with it? If your just gonna be playin around, then you dont really need much...

I like the RMP bumper too. The lightened diffs are nice, the graphite chasis is very noticably lighter...i have RPM ball cups too, but they arent a must have, just ball cups develop slop eventually. And yeah, get whatever motor is appropriate. If your racing, then you need a stock motor for stock class, and a mod for mod etc...For just play u can use whatever motor u want so yeah..

If I were you, I would get ball bearings for the steering rack, a better servo, preferably metal gear ball bearing high torque, and some foam tires if you plan to do any racing.

I have had my TC3 for 3 years and have only replaced the bumper, foam bumper, body posts that got damaged in flips, and tires. I decided to go with a better servo for quicker steering, and installed ball bearings in the steering rack to help keep the car driving straight.

Otherwise, avoid the curbs and enjoy.

Yeah, ball bearings in the steering rack are good, the stock bushings develop slop.

notice that all this would make a factory team car, I think. When it gets to aluminum stuff, then it gets pricy. The factory Team stuff will make your car lighter and it will handle better with that decreased weight.

The first hop-up to buy for your TC3 is to sell it and buy a real touring car :P

HAHa.. hey man, no offense intended. Relax! The TC3 is a totally decent car, but the car is 5 or 6 years old, and really isn't in the top handful of competative tourers anymore. It has small problems like bad torque steer, no rear toe-in adjustment, stuff like that. If I had to rate the top few touring cars on the market, id label them

Schumacher M12 or Mission
Losi XXX-s
Yokomo MR4-TC SSG
Xray T1-Evo 2

It still comes down to personally prefrence. Properly setup, any chassis can win... thats the botom line.

p.s., yes I absolutly know what I am talking about. I even own a TC3 dude...

Around Where? Who are you and what are you talking about? The new mission just won the nordic nationals just a couple days ago..

Apparently you didnt even finish reading my post, before you decided to start flapping... ANY car can win. there are 6 or 7 chassis out there, all of them are 99% as good as the rest of them.

The reason the TC3 wins so many races, is because Associated has many many times the amount of money to spend on drivers then any other manufacturer out there... and that is what ultimately wins the races.... the driving.

If you took the #1 driver on the planet, and had him race in lets say 5 different races, and in each race he drove a different chassis (losi, schu, assoc, xray, etc) He would win each race with each chassis. Why? Because he is the best driver.
