I have been using my RDS8000 for about three years without a single glitch, this weekend I replaced it for a new futaba skysport 6 Ch. WHAT A MESS!
The rudders´s servo started chattering like crazy , some times it stuck in one size, some times it did not respond at all, same situation with the right aileron.

The radio seems to work fine with others servos..

Is the 2.4 covering all this problems ? If it is so, then we have a undesirable situation because the 2.4 would hide all this mess until it would be too late.
Is that possible?

Any opinion

What receiver and servos are you using?
Do you have a 4.8v or 6v Rx battery. NiCad or NiMh?

My experience with chattering servos has been that either the voltage is too much for the servos or there are issues with the servo extensions or Y Harness. Obviously, with 72Mhz, you could be having problems with RF noise interfering with the receiver. Routing the Rx antenna away from switches, servos, batteries, and metal pushrods may help. Even carbon fiber pushrods rubbing against one another can cause RF Noise.

Gas or Glow engine?

Moving to 2.4 has eliminated many sources for interference, for me.

I am using Futaba r127df receiver with 4.8v NiCd,Glow engine,Hitec 645 servos.
If there are some sort of problems with the switches, servos, batteries, and metal pushrods, etc the 2.4 would hide them ?
Is that a good thing?
I am very surprised knowing that I was flying with such a mess. Should I look for the problem or just reinstall my rds8000 and the 2.4 would take care of that ?

Thanks a lot

I have used those servos for years and they should work fine at 6v, so 4.8v should not be a problem.

The best thing to do is get the Rx out of the aircraft and run the Rx antenna as far away from anything electrical or mechanical as possible. Plug in one servo and see if you get chatter. Add the other servos one at a time until you see the problem.

Do you see the problem only when the engine is running or all the time?
Is the Tx antenna collapsed or fully extended?
Have you used thie Tx with Rx's in other aircraft where you did not see chatter?
Have you tried another Tx on the same channel with the Rx you are having problems with?
Does the problem occur when the Rx, Rx battery, and at least one servo are on the bench?

I experienced chatter at 10ft away from an aircraft with an 8AUPS. I found that the circuit board inside the Tx that the antenna, battery, and trainer port were connected to had a crack across the antenna circuit.
On a number of occasions, I have connected two servos to one channel using a Y Harness and found that one or both servos Bounced. I replace the Y Harness with one that had larger ga wire and the problem went away.

Be sure the Tx and Rx battery are sufficiently charged. Check to see if you are using extensions with Chokes or Booster circuits (anti Glitch).

Are any other 72Mhz transmitters , on adjacent channels to yours, turned on and transmitting while your Rx is on? If your Tx or Rx is out of tune, you could see such chatter.

2.4Ghz radios operate on a much higher frequency than 72Mhz and therefore are not sensitive to most of the noise that could cause a 72Mhz radio to Glitch. If your transmitter is not turned on and the Rx is powered up, you can see chatter in the servos from other RC transmitters or even from noise in your enviornment.

If you have any extension on the rudder cable, check them as most often, a servo chattering is a connection problem.

I checked everything , cleaned all contacts, made some range test ,and the chattering seems went away so I went flying. To make it short, I do not have to worry anymore because I do not have airplane, radio, engine etc.

Lesson Learned.
Unless you are a tecnician, if your radio have some kind of ploblem , be smart and send it to the main house for service.....
