I received my new T8J transmitter on Monday.  Now I have heard that SFHSS mode operates only with digital servos.  Is this true?  The manual seems to indicate that the  included receiver can be used with any J-connector equipped servo.

You can use ANY servo on the R2008SB receiver. You must use S-Bus servos on the S-Bus, or an S-Bus decoder for non-S-Bus servos on the S-Bus.

Don't know where the idea comes from that only digital servos will work with an SFHSS receiver.

Thanks, Bax

I was really not interested in changing over all my servos in order to use this Tx.

Bax,

Sorry to nitpick here, but after re-reading your post; could I get some assurance that it is safe to use analog servos with the R2008SB receiver in SFHSS mode?

Thanks

Can't make it any more clear, but I did an edit of the post.

I'm sorry, let me try to make my question more clear and specific.

Can you safely use ANY servo on the R2008SB receiver with the 8J transmitter in either FHSS mode or S-FHSS mode?

Thanks

This is being way over thought. You can use ANY regular servo, digital or analog with that receiver. When we say "that receiver", that means receiver. Mode is irrelevant. If we were going to mention a mode, we would have.

The R2008SB receiver operates on FHSS mode when an FHSS transmitter is present, and S-FHSS mode when an S-FHSS transmitter is present. It does not "care" which servos you use. However, you MUST use S-Bus servos on the S-Bus, or an S-Bus decoder when you use other servos.

Again, we don't know where the idea came from that FHSS and SFHSS affected the servos.

Where the thought came from is that S-FHSS is suppose to be high speed mode (I thought) and most sources say you cannot run analog servos in high speed mode - you have to use digital or you can burn up servos. Is S-FHSS high speed mode, and if it is ok to use all the time with all servos, then what is the FHSS setting used for.

There is no high-speed mode in SFHSS air systems. Only the 4PL car system. The airplane systems can use any servo you desire to plug into them.

Then what is the difference in S-FHSS and FHSS.

Futaba hasn't told us, but likely it's because FHSS was originally for low-channel car systems, and they decided to come out with the lower-cost airplane systems, and needed a protocol to handle 6-8 channels.
