Does the pulley move freely, how are the bearings on the pulley shaft, have you changed the belt or front pulley at all?

I never had a problem till not too long ago. I replaced my tear belt and not too many runs after its stripped. The teeth on the belt are gone. I've see a guy in here complaining that his belt kept breaking. What I'm gonna do is call HPI, the normally replace these parts easy do I recommend you give it a try too.

I hunk that HPI is getting cheap material.

The guy whose belt kept breaking does not have the same problem the op does, and this car is not known for having either of those problems to my knowledge (teeth getting eaten, or breaking belts for no reason). It may have just been a sub standard part as you say, but I suspect it may be something else. Belt and pulley drive is the strongest type of drivetrain, if you stripped teeth and belts, you would have done much worse to spur gears. I can't help wondering if something is out of alignment or not fitted correctly. Check everything thoroghly especially the belt tensioner and the area around the pulley that stripped. Check for bent shafts in the pulley system, check everything.

I just now ran into that problem. After many many runs. Time to replace with aluminum.

I really need to fInd some aluminum pulleys. My pulleys have been worn out by the belt. I tried locating some HPI car parts that might be able to replace it but no luck.

The rear belt system on the S2 uses eccentrics built into the main shaft bearing holders - there are only 3 positions for the eccentrics cut into the motor mounts AND if you move the eccentrics to tighten the rear belt - you loosen the front belt - the front belt tensioner does NOT have enough travel to compensate - this system does not provide (IMO) a desireable rear belt tension.

Use a rear belt mod - replace the main shaft pulleys and the diff pulleys if the teeth are worn or torn, otherwise you will eat belts.

The main shaft has about .020" end play - shim it.

I have a rear belt mod on mine as well as a front belt travel mod & a shimmed main shaft - - - 13ish x 20 minute runs (I use a LiPo) and virtually no belt wear and NO teeth wear on any pulleys.

But I stay away from rocks -

Stay away from rocks - rocks get caught in the belts and jammed up resulting in worn / torn belts & worn / torn pulley teeth.

Hey, smithy -
I will be soon... soon as my S2 is ready.
I still need a Novak #3339 Brushless System for the type of racing I'll be doing, get at least two more LiPos, some other odds & ends and tighen the slop in the C hub flange pipes.

What type of racing are you considering?

For that sliding sideways stuff try here for some info -

thanks for the info squirrel i'm interested in any type of the racing, i'm new to all this and didn't think there was anything out here, definately check them out
