Status: offline 		I would like to know who makes a good large scale electric as well.  I just picked up my first electric (Revolt 30) and am already looking at getting something much bigger (58" on up).  My local boat guru (he has 19 boats and races most weekends somewhere in the state) told me to stay away, far away from the Atomik ARC 58.

Any suggestions?

From what I know there is no RTR big FE boats other than this turd..
And if you want to race, this hull is not the direction to go with

You could always build one?
Lots of knowledge here and on OSE who can help

Status: offline 		srt10:  Thanks for the info.  Not interested in racing, Just wanted something bigger but also not interested in building as shooting sports takes up most of my spare time.  What little time I do have left I like to get out and run my RC stuff.  I have an 800 size scale Black Hawk helo that is not finished yet and I started that project over a year ago.  RTR is the way to go for me.  I just started looking at the Bonzi line of gas boats as they are huge, come RTR, and have power plants just like my 1/5 scale SC Truck so I am very familiar with tuning and the operation of those engines.  I have had three custom built power plants for my SC Truck so far and am currently running an OBR 29.5cc full mod long rod.

Why yes, it was me.  Just put a new OBR 29.5 full mod long rod in my HPI Baja SC and will probably run it on Sunday after which I will be at the Weld County pond to see how the Revolt 30 runs.  Chris is still working on my nitro mono hull and may have that working by Sunday as well.

and from what I got from you of what your looking for, this venom boat will make you upset ...
the Revolt is a nice runner!
I may be able to bring a couple boats there this weekend..?
I'm sending off 8 props today to get worked over, and I think I have one or two I can try on my PMono

I will be out at the Weld County Building pond this Sunday at noon with my Revolt 30 and my Nitro mono that Chris built for me.  Last night I found my Garmin GPS that I never use so I guess it will now live in my Revolt so I can see just how fast these really are.  I will be at that gravel pile near the pond at 10:00 running my HPI Baja as I just swapped the powerplant out for an OBR 29.5cc full mod long rod.

Speaking of larger boats, since there are no real good large scale electrics, I am on the lookout for a largeThunderboat class gasser.  Chris tells me there are three of you in your club interested in the Thunderboat class but it takes four club members to make up a class.  If I can find a used one I will buy it and join your club.

Other than the internal rail system and paintjob, the hull is the exact same as the Venom King of Shaves/Segad gas version. Venom is now Atomik. The Atomik hull has all of the open air vents that the Venom does. NOT SUITABLE for FE. Theres a video on youtube of the atomik with an onboard cam, then it flips. You can see it quickly fill with water. Im not sure why Atomik didnt seal up this hull for their electric version. On top of that, the motor and esc they use are junk as SRT10 mentioned.

Now...the GOOD
I love my 58" King of Shaves. I converted mine from gas to FE this past fall. I dont race either, just a weekend runner. Instead of waiting on Atomik to re-release this boat with sub par electronics, might I suggest finding a gas version of the King of Shaves or Segad, and adding your own electrics. I saw a craigslist add a few months ago for the gas KOS, dude only wanted $300 for it because he could never get it running right. If you find the right deal, just take out the gas parts, sell them and help fund the electric conversion. All you really need is the motor, mount, esc and lipos. You can run the stock prop if you stay with a low Kv motor, and you wont need a super spendy esc either. Now that im much more well versed in the electric world now than I was 6 months ago, I have to give props to SRT10 and the suggestions he made to me when I was about to build mine. Turnigy XK5692 540 Kv motor for $101, a Turnigy 120amp esc for $50, then 2x4s or 5s lipos and you're set. I thought this setup was rediculous at the time, but now I realize this would have worked, and worked well for that matter. What im using in mine is a Leopard 5698 910kv, Castle Creation Hydra 200HV2 esc spinning a octura x452 on 8s, and Im right around 50mph if I had to guess. I'll be investing in some quality Dinogy 5s lipos this spring. 60mph+ easy. My build is on the 2nd page of this electric boat forum if you want to check it out. If you decide on the Atomik ARC, or go the conversion way, prepare to seal it up with a lot of silicone to protect the internals.

Status: offline 		Not as of yet. I ran it once on a set of 4s 40c Turnigy packs. Checked the readings after, and my ripple voltage was above where I want it to be. I've got 8mm bullets ready to install to replace the 5.5mm that are on there now. Going to upgrade to the Dinogy 5s 65c packs this spring once the ice is off the lakes. Im not sure if the culprit is the lipos or the connections, but swapping out both should cure the ripple problem. The day I had it out, it was maybe 50 degrees, and windy as a ****. I was so excited about running it, I didnt even realize how cold my legs and feet got. It was handling 6-8" chop really well, had a few short bursts at full throttle...it was dancin on those waves...AWESOME! I did pick up the new GoPro Hero 3 Black, so I will get some quality vids up this spring.
