Well having just collected my new viper from Jeff , I have got to say I am really really impressed !
For one it comes packaged really well in ply lined boxes !
This kit looks to be the best ARTF kit I have seen !
It comes with the gear fitted
All control surfaces and horns are fitted
Canopy all glued and fixed
Servos are fixed into std plastic servo trays
The elevator is also all done and ready for a single servo to be fixed !
The paint finish looks great I really cant find fault with it at all! The trailing link gear is oil dampened , there are no gear doors to mess about with!
I would say that you could build this model in a day or two just add your servos connect linkages install turbine !
The thrust tube even comes fixed for you ! I recon this could be one of the best value scale/sports jets about !

The wings are fixed to the fus by a bolt that goes through the inner edge of the flap.

Nice although the wing tip lens cover could have been moulded alittle better to blend in with the winglet.Looks as though its just squared off ?

I got my turnkey version last Thursday, and we flew it last Sunday successfully. Put 12 hours of works to it. It flies really fast. Will post video later this week. Thanks,

Mike

Excelent ! What would you say about the turbine choice ? Is the new jl 120 good match or overkill ? I am thinking about a 21lbs might save weight and fly it nicely!

Hi,

I instal a JetsMunt VT 100.
I think, the turbine is a very good choise in relation of weight and thrust.

Hi,all
I install a JET LEGEND T12(12Kg) turbine.
I think, the T12 is the best choise when you add smoke system.Because the smoke tanks total 2L
.8Kg-10Kg turbine will be a good choise without somke system.
Look at my latest flight video below.Power by JET LEGEND T12.

Hi William.

Got my viper this week, awesome kit!!. Did you mix Down-Elevator to your flaps? Did you need lead in the nose.
I tried do get out the tanks of the fuselage, but i think that wont be easy?

regards
Andreas

Andreas, push the stb tank as far forward as you can and lift the rear of the port tank up and back at the same time, it will come out,
Gary.

Dunno why this is called a build thread really.

If anyone's interested I've done one on the UK rcmf website link here :-

kasi122:

On the airplane for Mike Lin, we did add some down elevator mix to the flaps from the mid flap to full. Definitely did not need nose weight, after first flight, moved batteries back in the airplane. With fuel forward of CG, the airplane is quite nose heavy at take off. Hope this helps.

My viper is coming together now ! There were only a few issues ! One being that one rib in each wing was partly sitting in fresh air ! Easy fix with hysol ,but worth checking yours ! It was the same rib on each wing under the flap servo cover ! The other think you may need is some longer 3mm threaded rod as some of them were on the short side for the ball links for my liking !
I have converted my airlines upto 3mm as it is supplied with 2 mm !
The flap servo is not in line with the horn by maybe half an inch ! Which is somewhat annoying ! However I have just added a 3 mm nut either side of the horn and servo arm which reduces the angle and I doubt the sideways stress will be a problem on a model this size ! although I may end up putting another horn in the flap so it's all at right angles!
I have used jr8911 (overkill ) and 3 mm metal ball links on the elevator as it just about touches the thrust tube ! I have also moved the elv and rudder servo lead hole forward as I found my thrust tube is pretty much stuck were it is and unless you have tiny hands it's nearly impossible to fix the servo wires to the sides of the fus ! They seem a tight fit so plumbed them in situ ! I should get about ten or more mins with my merlin 90. I am just on with the final install I am going to try and put a cover over the front instrument panel to protect the electronics from water and muck from the nose leg !
I am at a bit of a standstill as I had got my merlin fitted ! only to find that it looks like the combustion chamber is faulty
So it will be a while off test flying it now ! Before it went back I tested the JL Smoke system! Works a treat! ended up reducing the pump rate to the minimum and think with the one tank fitted I should get over 2 mins maybe more ! The smoke pipe goes down the inside of the thrust tube about 10" so I guess the oil will get pre-heated before it hits the exhaust! Certainly seems as good as other smoke pumps !
By the way thanks for the travel pics
