I just got two GE power 11.1volt 900 mah lipo battery packs for my 250 heli.I found that both arrived charged so i went to discharge one with my Imax B6 charger and since i was not able to set the minimum voltage so the charger would stop automatic.Instead the charger stopped discharging leaving the battery at 8.90 volts.Did i damage the battery???

Hopefully it will be fine. Why discharge it anyway?

You shouldn't go bellow 3.1v per cell, some say even 3.5v . Balance charge it slowly 900mah/10.

Fingers crossed (always supervise lipo charging or charge at your mates house....!)

Well i tride giving it a storage charge, and that only took the battery down to around 10 or low 11 volt range witch i thought the battery was supposed to be at half charge for storage. So i tried to discharge it to bring it half way down.It would be nice if the Imax B6 would allow me to set a max lowest voltage level.Since i dont think that this is the case.I thought that the charger would automatically, stop once a safe lowest voltage level was reached.I guess not...lol.Anyway,is there any wa to tell if the battery was damaged? i think i took the cells down to around 2.91v each or 2.71 i have an 11.1 volt 900mah 25c battery. The final voltage was 8.90volts.

Storage charge should be about 70% capacity, not voltage. I think storage voltage is around 11v- your chargers pre set storage function was correct.

Slowly balance charge, if the voltage comes up to the 12v mark or above 11.4v it's probably fine. A min amount of puffing/swelling is not necessarily a problem. If unsure restrain plane and run throttle at half power to see how long it lasts.

Or if charger has a cycle function use that and check capacity put back in after a discharge (should be about 70% of packs rated capacity)

All the best

If your battery is that low, your charger may not recognize the battery. Not familiar with your charger, but it may give you a "voltage error" indication. It may not allow you to start the charge until the voltage is up to a certain level.

If this happens, you can charge the battery under a different battery type to get the voltage up to a point where the charger will recognize it.

I don't know that exact procedure, but I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you haw it is done safely.

Tends to be about 3v/cell. If you have a voltmeter you an use the balance plug to find the low cell then using a servo lead's male pins connect and charge nixx up to 3v. I would even more certainly watch what is going on if doing this.

well after that low discharge.I went and charged the battery and the max it got was 820mah at 12.56 volts or so.So none of the cells were damaged????

I would say its okay. Whats the voltage of each cell? Are they within about 0.05 or less?

what i did was take my multimeter and put the positive and negative on each two of the wires on the balance plug and got 3 volts on each two wires.I dont know how to check each cell

Sounds like you just did read each individual cell

LiPo's generally don't like to be below 3.2v per cell, with some as high as 3.7v; at least according to the various labels.
I have used "new" older stock LiPos that out of the box were below 3.0v, but suspect that they will not have the life or rated capacity in actual use.
My chargers will complain about the start voltage per cell if below 3.0v. To charge a cell that is less than about 3v, I have to select another battery type, set max current, and voltage.
Once the battery cells are at or above 3.2 v, I can then safely charge using the proper LiPo settings.
