I checked the wing and motor incidence before going to the next step.

There is just a tad of down thrust when the wing is level. This is very good!

Temporarily slide the horizontal stabilizer into the fuselage and plan out the pushrod installation.

I prefer longer elevator horns to reduce the play on the elevator installation.

A 1 5/8" long (to the connection) control horn is shown in the picture.

The following pictures show the construction of the elevator control horn. Silver solder is used in construction.

I ended up using a 1 3/8" long control horn (center of 3/32" music wire to hole).

The wing and horizontal stabilizer were checked with incidence meters (sorry no pictures) and the tail needed to be adjusted a little.

Components were checked again and then the horizontal stabilizer was glued in place with epoxy.

Balsa was added to contain the epoxy and micro-balloons mix.

A small amount of finishing epoxy was mixed. Micro-balloons were added until the mix was the thickness of toothpaste.

The mix was added to fill and the model was set out of the way to dry.

A Dremel tool was used to remove the majority of excess epoxy and micro-balloon mix.

Follow with a scraper blade to bring the surface flush.

A slot is made for the rudder pushrod.

The skid was attached with Shoe Goo. If done again I would consider epoxy instead.

The aileron servo mount installation follows. The 3/8" diameter dowel pieces are glued in with 6-minute epoxy.

The engine kill is being installed in the next few pictures.

A piece of 3/8" tubing (OD) is being installed in the firewall.

Pulling the fuel tubing bends it to shutoff the fuel to the engine.

The following pictures shows anchoring the motor mount with fiberglass and epoxy.

Thirty minute epoxy was added to cut fiberglass cloth pieces.

Dab in place and let dry.

I'm planning to fly this model (AR-6). I will also bring my AJ-2 (Matney's Models Kit). I will race what I am most comfortable with.

The mount is from Jett. It comes complete with needle valve for about $60.

No more messing around. It's time to finish them up.

The access hole at the elevator horn was filled with a piece of fiberglass cloth. I just stuck it in place with CA.

A scrapper blade was used to remove the edge at the fuselage joints.

Some lightweight automotive body filler was used to fill holes bigger than 1/8". Just follow directions. It dries in a few minutes and is easily sanded with a sanding block.

Wash the exterior of the fiberglass parts with water and dish soap to remove any trace amounts of release agent.

Place the fuselage out of the way to dry.

A squeegee was used to spread lightweight Spackle over the surface of the model.

This was done to fill up pinholes prior to applying primer.

There was this heat wave in Texas, got up to 45 F, so it was time to prime the model.

KlassKote white primer was used on the model.

Use a respirator when painting and spray outside. Initially the model dried outside.

The wing and fuselage were moved inside a couple hours after spraying.

After the primer is dry it is time to wet sand it smooth. Don't skimp on this exercise. This is the most important part of the finish.

You want it smooth, without going through to the fiberglass.

I mixed about 4 ounces of acrylic enamel paint and thinned it about a third with fast reducer.

The paint was ordered from Restoration Shop, and the color was Swift Red.

I was very happy with the paint as it covered well and worked fine in the 45 F outside temperature.
