A friend of mine just virtually stole my Xray M18T pro from me because 'his girlfriend fell in love with it', so I'm going to have to build another.

I want a proper 3S nutjob system that won't overheat, and I'm not too bothered how much it costs. It's got to fit into an unmodified Xray M18T Pro though.

Looking for suggestions...ta.

lol, nice.

I want a factory looking install though.

Seems the mini mamba is commonly recommended.

I've heard they're fine on 2s, but on 3s the ESC gets hot because it's designed for the Mini SCT which is smaller and 2wd.

i probably made the fastest rc18t on the planet, a turnigy 4400kv 450/500 class heli motor will make it move out faster than anything, geared 32/57 with 3s it could take flight with less than 1/2 throttle. just make sure you have the room for the motor, as its a tad larger than a proper 380, but the mounts are exact.

a hobbywing 25a will push it nicely though a 40A is ideal on 3s

that thing was insane in the membrane!!!

For anyone that's interested, I came to a conclusion on this... The flat out most powerful and usable system that will fit without modification in most 1/18ths is...

The traxxas VXL system found in the 1/16th mini revo. Of course it can benefit from a bigger esc for 3S use, but the motor is the perfect 'big block' fit for minis, and of course it blows ten shades of crap out of any 20mm motor out there.

well the verlinion motor will not fit in Associated RC18's, or the HPI recon cause they are quite a bit bigger(about 90% longer, and 10-15% more diameter) than the stock brushed motor, and that was a tight squeeze. I'm sure there are more that its too big for too.
The 18A EZ-run setup I find good for those cause they are a tiny bit smaller than the stock brushed setups, and have good power

I'll revive this thread.  This trinity motor looks pretty powerful.  Not good for 3s though.
I am currently waiting on my aon 6500kv to show up.  It has a 24 mm can.

Ok... I'll help keep an old thread alive! IMO the best system for 1/18 is a Mamba Micro Pro ESC with a CM26 motor. The motors were experimental and were never mass produced but they were awesome. I recently sold an RC18T with a 6800kv system and I had it up to 64.7 mph on just 2s!! I got warm quick with that gearing but with a mild gear setup and 3s it was nasty while keeping it's cool!

Wish I had known about them before they stopped making them.  Hopefully this aon will be stout.
