Hello.

My buddy wants to buy a ziroli short kit for a hellcat from national balsa, but he is not sure of the quality of the kit and how accurate the parts will be. Does anyone have any experience and/or purchased a ziroli short kit from them?

Thanks much!

Jason

Excellent choice, your gonna luv it, anyway, I'd recommend Lazer Lizzard for your short kits. I dont know your building experience or talents, but the Ziroli now has a glass fuse for the Stuka.Just an FYI.

If you plan on having a full cockpit, I recommend the Balsa Dinamics cockpit kits, very nice. Another FYI.

I've used National for two Hostetler planes, L19 and PT19. The quality of wood is much better than I've had from other "leading" cut-kit suppliers. Also nice folks to deal with as they do what they say and on time!

Thanks for the FYI, I have read your many posts on the Stuka and that helped with my decision.

I used Lazer Lizzard for my Ziroli P-61 and I liked the quality but I also bought the rest of my wood from National.  I was considering going National as they offer the full wood kit.  It would be a decision more out of convenience.

So far from everything I've read on different sites, national balsa is a great place who care about their customers. Their website even says to email them on how they like their kit or wood, and will replace anything wrong right away. It sounds like they deliver on time, and the quality of materials used is as good or better than other kit cutters. I've also read that they package their wood so it for sure will not break, and put time into making sure every order is up to their standards.

It sounds like he will be purchasing their full kit for the hellcat.

Any other comments welcome

Thanks,

Jason

If you are talking about shipping cost, shipping is free on orders over $150 from national balsa.

I just saw this post - I have a national balsa ziroli stuka I am about 30% done with. I was not sure about what to do. The kit was great - all the parts matched out perfectly to the plans. I got the long kit - saved me time and the quality of the wood was good. 2 wing ribs were miscut (which happens with any kit cutter) but they replaced them without charge within a few days after I contacted them. There were a couple pieces, namely some ply pieces such as the tank floor, which were not there, but the problem was they cut the kit from the materials list ziroli supples and those pieces were not on the list. Easy fix though. As far as fiberglass fuses go - good and bad, IMHO. Much harder to get into if you want to position servos and things at odd places. Good luck

This is has my experience, too.

National Balsa kits contain a higher quality of wood than the other commonly used kit cutter.

I have done business with Eric @ National Balsa for several years now and I'm very pleased with the wood and service.

I highly recommend them.

I have the national balsa stuka and I would order from them again anytime. There were 2 problems with the ribs and they sent me twice what I asked for within a few days to make sure I had them!

I will pipe in here as I live in MA and have personally gone to National Balsa located in Ware, MA. It is a small company, in an old building, in an old industrial town that concentrates on the customer. There was just a few very nice people there working to make a living. I can tell you that they had my full wood list ready to go in just one day for my BT Kingfisher and the wood was great except for just one piece. Definitely not a big deal! I will buy everything from them in the future that I need. I have not used their cutting services yet but have an idea I will in the future. I would recommend them and for me it's a no brainer. Just over an hour from my house to pickup the balsa I need!

True statement, the built-up Ziroli Stuka fuselage is better.

National Balsa, hummmmm, Eric and his wife are two of the nicest folks in our hobby. I use to pylon race with Eric and since he was getting beat too often, he changed his interests. We should all be glad that he did. His wood is the lightest, straightest, quality grade balsa available. You can tell him your specific needs, and he will meet or surpass your needs. This is not an advertisement on his behalf, just fact. Chic "Redtail" White

I purchased a Ziroli Skyraider kit from National Balsa. I haven't built it yet but the quality of the wood looks very good and the service was great.

I have used Eric's services at National Blasa on several of my prototype designs- 27% Seversky P-35 and 33% SSW D.III and in all cases, I received quality wood and service. I would highly recommend National Balsa for both wood supplies and their laser cutting services.

Nationsl Balsa is my recomended Laser cut kit supplier upon release of these designs.
