Status: offline 		 i have one of these chansaws and want to convert it, is this easy enough?  to do i have a 30cc homelite on my boat now and think its under powerd. what do you do with the shaft out the other side of the 42?? any one done this? thanks for your input

Status: offline 		That's a fairly popular engine to convert, if you do a search in the engine conversion forum (if you replace the forum ID # in the address of the airboats page with 92 it'll take you there) you'll find numerous posts. If I remember right the coil on that engine mounts on the saw housing not the cylinder so electric ignition would be easiest.

Status: offline 		You say your boat is under powered what size & how heavy is your boat?
The output shaft on a chainsaw engine needs a left hand thread for the prop adp. witch is good you can use a Tractor prop instead of a pusher prop.

These boats have a 41cc Robin engine on them . they are not chainsaw engines

Status: offline 		its now running a homelite 30cc with 14x6 prop it weighs 27 pounds and is 25x39, it is one of ptr34s hulls that he makes, i think it simpley needs more power, is the 42 even enough power or what would be my best bet for this a cy engine? i plan on lighting the cage some but its pretty simple not much to take of but if i get a diff engine i will need to almost rebuild the thing any how, thank you for any help

Status: offline 		Bushwacker, have you played around with your prop ?  I'd have thought 16 to 17 inch prop on a 30 Homie ?    if you are running a 14, you can go up a bit in pitch ?  Is the engine over reving with the 14 ?  

What size props are other guys running a 30 Homie on?

Status: offline 		people usually run a 16x8 to 18x8 on those engines, a 14x6 wouldn't get you as much thrust...

Status: offline 		I use a apc 16x8 prop on that size of motor myself
if you are low on power check the compression of the motor it may need
re ringed or replaced . a 14/7-3 blade may still be to small , it was for me
