If the water is relatively calm, just get a Hornet tunnel from Hobby King.  I have seen bids and it hits high speeds out of the box.

Hobby King Genesis on 8S. Gorgeous boat, runs like a scalded dog. 75.5 mph is my best so far.

Lol.  You could probably find another source.  But if not, Pro Boat's Stiletto is a screamer out of box, and I've also heard good things about Thunder Tiger's electric tunnel hull.  I've you put the Stiletto in the water and hammer the throttle, it will actually flip over!  It has quite the power for a RTR.

Here is a Hornet on ebay:

Get a tunnel and you'll see why I'm so obsessed with them!

I have the addiction in a bad way.  I've finally found a legal place to run, and am ready for a bigger FE than what I  already have.  (NQD ''tear into'' and SuperMonoX)

I have a ton of batteries for my aircraft, but not too many 2S packs.  I am hoping to use the batteries I already own.

I'm thinking either the Impulse31, Motley Crew, or Revolt 30.  I have a good tx and extra rx's. I don't have much free time to build.

I'd like the new Impulse coming out, but it doesn't look available until October.

Where I will be running, should be smooth conditions in the a.m., and slight chop from wind later in the day.  (Medium size pond)

Buying from towerhobbies is a plus because I get free shipping and I have $50 off $300 code.  Also, I can get discounted price for Pro-Boat from Wholesaletrains.com, but pay out the whazoo for shipping.

Thanks for helping out a fellow addict

I vote Revolt30!
I've raced against that boat and they do very well with the right prop

Clearly the stiletto will not be capable of speeds seen with ML boatworks racing boats.  But they are not ready to run, are they?  I have heard the stiletto can approach speeds of 45mph, but I know the ps295 will almost do 70.  Also, what do you mean by UL1 setup? I'm looking to get a ps295 for when the new REK legs come out, and on the website it says use a UL1 motor, and I have no idea what that is.  Do they mean the same motor the aquacraft UL1 superior uses?

LOL
sounds like you don't really know much about these do ya!

the Stiletto id kinda a crap boat IMO
they are RTR but need lots of work to be race worthy!!!
45mph out of the stiletto?? LOL not even close... maybe on a windy day going down hill..
in know cuz I had one... even darin who helped develop the thing sold his for a much better racer....

oh and the rek lower is not to be used on the PS295.. OS all the way!

Thanks everyone for the input.

I don't think a tunnel hull will be good for me. too much wind in the afternoon.  I'm leaning towards the Revolt 30 Rx ready.  Although, I'm intrigued by the Motley.  Not too excited about the plastic prop it comes with.  Any of these RTR's I purchase I will be changing out the shaft and props and connectors.

I would like to get at least 1 run without having to change anything. So maybe the Motley is out of the question. The Motley is tempting w/ the $30 mail in rebate that is good for buying more parts, and I have the $50 off code for tower,

I also like the Impulse 31.  I can get that boat for $300 plus shipping.

Decisions,decisions, decisions

I will be using my NQD jet boat for a rescue.  Tennis ball w/ 20lb fishing line.  Put the ball in the nook behind the drivers, motor out and around troubled boat and pull ball with boat back in.

Or just have my Labrador retriever do it for me

Just kidding, I DON'T have a dog and would never do something as stupid as having a dog retrieve an RC Boat.

I like the idea of using the baby ducks (w/ hooks attached) from the rc jet duck setup. Would prolly work perfect w/ my jet boat.

The SMX is purely for speed runs.  I love the roost she throws up.  Thats why I want something bigger and faster.

Blow off the plastic prop thing on the MC
You will want a M445 for it any ways for it... and the Revolt you'll want to get a M445 or maybe even a M447 for that boat as well..

My early b-day present arrived today......Silver/red Revolt 30.  Ordered up some Zippy 2s 5000mah 45c batteries to power her. OSE upgrade flex shaft, thrust bearing, and will buy new props too when they are back in stock.
