Hi all,

This is my very first post, I am from New Zealand and want to first off, say hi to all (-:

I am wanting to know a bit more detail on the Redcat 1/8 Rockslide Crawler,
before I go ahead and buy.
Few question being ;

1 - Is it reliable?
2 - Will using 2x 5000mAh 7.2v batteries ruin anything in it?
3 -  Is the steering proportional? ( I assume it is )

I have read on this forum and elsewhere, they are very good and can't be beaten for
the price. Some even go so far as saying they are almost as good as custom rigs.
From what I've seen on YouTube, they are awesome, and can hold their-own against
rigs 4x the price.

Cheers for any help fella's, I want to get into crawling - bad.

It will withstand 14.4 volts but a true charge on a 5000 is 9.2 volts be careful it will probably break a lot of things

um, fully charged 2s lipo is 8.4 volts.

Anyway, I wouldnt run a pair of 2s lipos unless I added heat sinks to the motors (especially the rear)

I have onwed a 1/8 rockslide. I cant recall anything breaking, except for a steering servo. But the stock ones were not strong enough for my taste anyway.
I installed MG996R metal geared servos front and rear. The are strong, metal geared and they are only $10-$12 each!

You will find the crawler can actually flex MORE than it needs to. But some simply shock adjustments fix that.

I also cut the foams inside the wheels in a star pattern. This allows the tires to form to the rocks and get better bite.

If you want to run 4s lipo, I suggest upgrading the ESC to a outcry from RC4WD. It can handle 4s, its made for duel motor crawlers, and it also has turbo BEC (which makes it so when you are on the throttle the servos still get 6v)
The only thing this awsome ESC doesnt have is low voltage cuttoff. But a Low voltage alarm is like $5 on ebay.
I have run one of these ESC's on a 1/10 rockslide with a 3s lipo and it worked awsome.
