I've had a quick look but I can't pin down the maker of the car for you.

The Tyrell Ford f1 6 wheeler was released to race in 1978 and was sponsored by Elf but as to who makes the model I can't find out.

There is another one on ebay at the moment but there's no bids on it as yet http://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-texaco-marlboro-rc-indy-car-/110916037227?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item19d31c6a6b so as to value I can't help

Sorry that I can't help more.

The strange thing about it is that it appears to be a 6 wheel version of James Hunt's McLaren at the time... Look, the liveries are identical, only the McLaren didn't have 6 wheels, the p34 did, the following year...

I think that this bloke may have his date wrong on this auction

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Estate-Find-Vintage-1968-Toy-Car-NEW-in-Box-Radio-Control-Elf-Formula-XXX-Rare-/280875998802?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item4165839e52

The handset is slightly different but the layout including the exposed engine(the one on the auction has a chrome plate on it) and how the bodywork is cut around it and the aerial coming out from the same part of the body looks as though it could be the same chassis with a different shell. Makes sense as no point racing your mates if all your cars looked the same.

There's another thread on this car here, from banditra101801 , where this person found a NIB one, unpainted. It's brand is Dynatron. The worst remote of any RC car I've ever seen, very unexciting to run. Yours has been painted to match the box art, just as I did with mine as I also had this model as a kid. One of the few R/C 's I had, given to me by my Aunt and Uncle at the time. I might have been 11 or 12? If I found one at a toy show, NIB like the one referenced on the other thread, I'd pay $25 for it just as a shelf queen, something to look at...Hope this helps. The threads should line up at the top now as I posted in both threads.
