Ha! That was either before the event started, after hours, or doing a demo for the crowd at noon. It did not fly during the actual event and stayed in the tent.

Me 262 and Mibo A-10 were drinking the kerosene for the actual event.

Dougie, whatcha doing in the Warbird forums.....lost perhaps?

Go Orange!

WOTR was great again this year. I think the pic with the explosion going off behind it is great. I took some pictures and posted them to my little RC homepage. They are not the quality of those above but are varied . If your interested in looking at them please visit:

Putt's RC Homepage

There may be another picture or two from other RC fields you might enjoy as well.

That shot of the Spitfires is outstanding! All the pics are first-rate!

Ken, I'm looking forward to seeing what you got of my P-47 Razorback "Holy Joe", UN-E in flight. You may remember it as the dirtiest bird there!

I had a great time this year- thanks to everyone that contributed!

Just got back to Phoenix after a long weekend of flying. This has to be one of the best events I have attended. World class aircraft, great crowds of people, and Sam on the mic. It was an honor to meet the Tuskegee Airman that attended.

I would like to thank Brian Omeara for getting my jet up to Denver and sharing his tent. Without him I would have been a spectator.

That Enola Gay reenactment with the Kevin Costner narrative was very well done. Dino flying the giant B-26 was outstanding. Frank Noll with the giant P-47 was very impressive.

Thanks! The guys behind the sticks deserve all the credit, they had the Spitfires flying close and lined them up on the turn, wish I could get that shot every time...

Cody,
My pleasure. Your bird really photographed well. And since I did get a landing of your plane I should have a complete video of it now.

For everybody else here's what happened. I was video taping Cody's P-47 in flight. I took my eyes off of the plane for a few seconds and when I went to get the camera back on it the plane was gone. I'm still not too sure what happened to it but I think that Cody had to put it down in the field someplace. I do know that he did get it back in the air later on in the event. So I was able to put together enough footage for an "entire flight".

Ken

That's awesome!

For the record- the motor quit mid victory-roll, and I was forced to land way ESE of the runway- I cleared 2 fences, and a huge ditch. The plane was sitting right side up, pointed the same direction it was when it dropped below the horizon. Gear up, flaps down, and the only damage was a busted belly pan, and a busted prop! Lucky me!

Man call that a WIN! This year was great... as always. Its just the thing to get me motivated for new builds over the winter.

It was an EXPENSIVE year for me.

During the WWI gaggle I was filming and thinking which one of those I would like to build. I decided that I would like to build a Balsa USA Fokker D-7. The Balsa USA guys were here this year so on Sunday I was talking to Mark Enderby and looking at the kits behind him. I didn't see a D-7 so I thought I was out of the woods and home free, then he moved and there was one sitting behind him. Dang it!!!! So of course I had to buy it!!! That with the scale accessories cost $444. Then I dropped $600 bucks at the auction Saturday night. So it cost me quite a bit to go and cover the event this year!!!!!

But you are right Terry, it was an awesome event this year. There were lots of planes there that haven't been there in the past. Plus, the weather was gorgeous (with the exception of the fog Friday morning, but that cleared out quickly). I think the only real complaint I heard from anybody was that the noon shows ran a bit long. But other than that I  think everybody had a great time.

Ken

I had a lot of fun flying the Spitfire with Frank, his flying skills and precision are amazing. I am looking forward to next year and try that again!
I am finishing another Bates Sea Fury (4.5 scale) this winter, perhaps Brian could take the Cuban Fury out of retirement for a special formation flight???
Loved the event, thank you to everyone for the hard-work you did and the time you volunteered.

Most of the comments here are how much of a great time we have as pilots. I wanted to tell everyone how excited and happy all of the spectators are as well. Having worked some parking Saturday afternoon, many patrons stopped to compliment us for what a good time they had and a great event it is.
This goes out to all of the pilots with all of the hard work and great flying that you do. The spectators really enjoy it, and travel very far each year to watch this wonderful event.
