Warbird enthusiasts:

A few words to let you know that registrations to date are running slightly ahead of last year which means a great turnout with many great aircraft competing for coveted trophies. There have been as many as 350 aircraft in the past with similar numbers expected this year. As always, we have a great event in store with lots of cool stuff for pilots was well as the whole family - a second to none pyrotechnics show, full scale flyovers and a noon show in which anyone can participate, plus lots of open flying orchestrated by our Airboss Michael Derks. Event proceeds benefit Mental Health America-Colorado. Last year we raised $13,000 for this worthy cause.

And I almost forgot to mention the banquet and guest speaker, Col. Charles "Mac" McGee of the Tuskegee Airmen who flew a P-51 "Kitten". There are only 200 seats available for the banquet and live auction of $1000's in merchandise. We are also expecting members of the "Re Tails" from the Denver area to attend on Friday.

Remember to preregister and also be aware that online registration ends Monday, September 18th!

For complete event and registration information go to http://warbirdsovertherockies.com

Brian and I look forward to seeing you in September

I'm currently working on a new promo video for WOTR for Brian and going through all that video has me really excited to get out to event again. But it dawned on me today that there is still almost 2 months until WOTR is here!!! Damn that seems like a long time!!!!!

One thing for sure that stands out to me as I go through my footage from this event in years past, and that is Brian sure has put together a great event. It's easily turning into one of the premier warbird events in the country. And if anybody hasn't seen the noon demos and pyro show, I can tell you those alone are worth the trip out!!! The pyro show is totally awesome!!!!! As soon as we get the new promo video finished up I'll post a link here so that all of you can get a little taste of what the noon show is all about!!!!

And for anybody that is within driving distance of Ft. Collins, all I can say is load up your planes and come to the show. It's well worth it. If I wasn't covering the show I can tell you that I would have my warbirds in the back of my truck and I'd be on the road going to fly at the event!!! The flying is of course one of the best parts of the event, but more than that WOTR is about the people. I've been to a lot of events around the country and all of the have the public attend. That's part of the event. But at most other events they are lucky if they draw 1,000-1,500 spectators at their events. Brian easily pulls in 5,000-8,000 every year!!! The stands are always full with people watching the show. And not just the noon demos. There are as many people watching all the flying during the day as there is during the noon demo. They really love this event!!!!

See you all in Ft. Collins!!!!

Ken

I've been working with Brain to put together a new video to help promote Warbirds Over the Rockies. I finished that up this weekend and we are getting ready to put it up on the WOTR website, but I'll post a link here for you all to take a look at it. The video gives a good sampling of what Warbirds Over The Rockies is all about. This event is quickly growing into one of the premier warbird events in the US. The quality and quantity of planes that show up for this event are outstanding. And Brian puts on a noon show that is great, with a pyrotechnics show that costs him a pretty penny!! And for those that attend the show make sure you get to the banquet as Brian always has a great speaker on hand, this year is it Col. Charles "Mac" McGee from the Tuskegee Airmen. He will be sharing with us his time in the air over WW2 Europe!!

A few points before I put up the video.
  • You can register for the event at the WOTR website, www.warbirdsovertherockies.com
  • If you stay at the two hotels listed on the website, make sure you mention you are here for Warbirds for a discount on your hotel.
  • The noon time show will feature a fuil scale fly-over from a P-51, T-33, and Mig 15
  • Banquet featuring prime rib dinner with guest speaker Col. Charles "Mac" Mcgee from the Tuskegee Airmen
  • Lot of open warbird flying on all three days of the event. The site features 6 lanes of flying on a 750' paved runway.

Here is the new Warbirds Over the Rockies video
