hey guys im getting more and more annoyed of my nitro savage xl so i will be converting it to brushless, i searched on google but i didnt find the things i was looking for.!

first i need to know if this motor is going to work!- i am trying to spend the least amount of money here

http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-m4a.html

comes with a 150a esc i know nothing about electric-brushless, literally lmao

for the motor mount i really dont know which one to chose, i would like to keep my stock 3 speed or i can order an flux tranny off ebay,
for the brakes i really dont know, i think its the motor that slows it down?

also for the battery i was looking at the 4s or 5s 4000mah battery i will have 2 of them,

i will post pictures on this thread im going to strip down my savage xl later and cleaning it!

thank in advance guys!

I picked up a Speed Passions 1/8 setup for my Savage X SS conversion for $150 shipped.

You will need to get a motor mount plate and motor bracket as for batteries I would either two 2s or two 3s lipos.

yes the motor slows it down, and does the braking
just get the parts that are different in the flux's tranny, and the 3speed I think its around $8 in parts(idler gear and something else I think been a while since I did mine)
as for the motor mount if you go the HPI flux one you will need to grind it down to fit your motor, as its made to fit the stock one only. Took me about an hour to do with a dremel. you will also need the tvp's (can get the TCScrawler ones I think there cheaper than the HPI), ESC mount, and battery box's

could also look at the other kits there is also the Kershaw designs kits where he has a few different options like a center diff (probably better idea) or motor mounts that fit the normal TVP's, and battery box's to fit them too.

I went the TCS flux plates, idler gear, battery box's route because I wasn't in a hurry, and acquired the parts slowly for as cheap as possible

I'd go V2 seeing that has battery boxes and all
the idler gear you would take the tranny apart and replace the 3 speed gear if I remember it right with the idler (its the only part difference) when I bought it the gear was $8 shipped

ive found my motor and esc!

it will be the savage fluxs motor and esc because it is the same price as this - http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-m4a.html

the esc and motor on ebay come out to roughly 190$

would it be a good choice to go for the savage fluxs electronics?

and also i will be needing something to program the esc right?

thanks

Why are you buying one 3s pack? You need two 3s packs.

I'd try it with 2 2S batteries first my conversion honestly if I blip the throttle on 4S my savage ends up skidding on its lid for 15 feet on cement...
as for the idler gear installation you would have to look at the parts blowup for the savage flux on HPIs site its kinda easy IMO to install and took me a total of 5 minutes to figure it out
HPI100905 is the idler gear part #

as for fitting the kershaw mount no idea

guy who did a savage X conversion with pretty good pics that used a kershaw mount

You don't need your receiver battery anymore, but you do need your receiver. And you need to get a deans splitter for your MM www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p

I wouldn't use the splitter. I would just do this with the wires on the ESC.

no those are not good in the savage due to where the wire connects. it you hit the side of the truck it would snap the place the wires plug into on the battery clean off
on the savage you would want the battery exit to be on the end of the battery like this one http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14991, and not the top of it like the one you linked

Also as for run time between 4S and 5S there is no difference(missed when you asked that b4, and see no one commented on it). The run time is directly affected by the mAh rating of the batteries. putting batteries in series only adds the voltage, and does not add the mAh

(side note the battery I linked I do use in my savage)

alright thanks alot! i there are these ones that are not hardcase though, are the gen aces like the ski lipos that have a metal plate all around the batteries?

 http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-30c-5300-2s1p.html

and also can i put a battery example 5000mah ski lipo 30c  and another one that is 5000 mah ski lipo but 40c? or i have to have both batteries with the same c rating,

thanks! and between 5000 mah and 5300mah will i see a difference because i think the gen ace doesnt have a metal plate like the normal ski lipos i would need hard cases ones but gen ace doesnt have lots of them so yeah and i heard that the gen aces are better than ski lipos

thanks alot!! i will be ordering the HobbyWing XERUN Power System w/XERUN-150A ESC 4274-2000KV Motor for 1/8 Monster Truck finaly because it is a little cheaper and it will be better i thanks

They need to be the same C and MAH rating. it's also best that they're the same brand

there are no metal plates around batteries. There is one only between cells (I've dismantled lipos before) in hardcases there is a (thin) hard plastic shell on it, on softcases they are shrink wrapped

I have that ESC combo in my savage thing is a beast
My savage flips on its lid with the slightest throttle touch on 4S
