I have a composite delta with a Nelson FAI/F3D engine with pipe and still too slow for me.... Fast stuff just seems like Sig Kadets to me. Have I blown my fast fuse?

How fast does it go..?

If it doesn't do 200 mph it could be either the prop's fault or the airframes' fault, or a little of both.
There is an invisible line you can not cross with wing loading and deltas really suffer if the wing load is too high. Might as well fly a kite when it gets too high.

Hi! I am interested in your Nelson engine. Please send me a PM when you will have blown it.
Thanks!

Could be the prop. It's going over 200, but doesn't seem as fast as I want it to go. The airframe is pretty light.

If it's already going over 200 mph, then you aren't going to see some magic [or noticeable] increase in speed with different props. That engine has a very narrow range about which props will work with it.
200 doesn't look very fast when you get used to just sport flying a lazy pattern with it. 200 is just a number, not much different than flying 170, 180, etc.
Try running it around a pylon course as tightly as you can if you want to make it seem faster and more challenging.

I've been racing pylon for ages. Q-500, Q40 and F3D. I know the engine is very picky. I think maybe i'm just so used to it, it seems slow to me now. I do know playing with props can make a great difference as well.

The same thing happens in other motor sports.
Our home town hero held a NHRA record with this blown hemi powered coupe and sold it so he could move up to alcohol funny car. Said he was bored with running 170 mph in the 8 second range, IIRC.
I've been searching for this car, BTW.
