hey every one
iv been out of the hobbie for about 3 years now due to the town i live in theres no real place to fly any more due to community ars holes
any way i cant be bothered with electrics planes im a glow guy i also only scratch build all my stuff.
in the last week iv been getting interest in the hobbie again by consitering to build a cheap RC boat to just going full and building a new plane.
i got an  idea of building a true 40 size not an arf that a 40 size that needs a 91 lol and am thinking about a totally flat like a foamy yak
i started one about 4 years ago but don't like the foam i was using 3/4inch white flaky junk so im thinking about going with pink or blue hi dence foam you buy from rona or home depo hot wire down to 3/4 inch since i cant seem to buy it 3/4 inch hear.im thinking id use balsa on the edges then ply wood mounts...ect then cover it to make it last.
does anyone know if theres kits or arfs out there like this would any one be intrested in seeing one on the market ???
what do you all think.

sorry for any bad spelling

I suppose the 'not happy with it' part just doesnt show in the pics above, cause that thing looks great

Im sure you already know, but that pink or blue foam is much heavier than the white stuff. The white foam sheets I get at Home deport is rated at 0.7 - 2.0 lb per sq foot, where the blue/pink are more around 3-7 lb per sq. foot ranges .. (guessing) .. Being you are using balsa/foam combo to build, I dont understand why you wouldnt want to use the lightest foam avaliable. Not to mention the white stuff is cheaper, if I remember right. I understand the higher dencity stuff is smoother material as far as cutting and sanding smooth, but if your using balsa's as well, some light filler takes care of any imperfections prior to your balsa caps or sheeting. Even using the standard amber colored gorilla glue works wonderfull on the foam, due to its foaming up as it cures, it will fill in any little foam chunks that may have broke loose from sanding or carving..

Just some penny's to throw around, is all.

Looks fun, though I don't know much about foam models.  If it was me I'd have rounded the leading edges and tapered the trailing ones.  I see a lot of drag adding up there.

This is a 3D aircraft, moving very slow most of the time. Drag is a non-issue at the speeds this plane will be flying.

Looks good, Ohio Model Products  (OMP) has one kind of similar, but with a built up wing.  Mine has a kind of foam/balsa fuse and balsa stick tail.  The fuse isn't the best idea IMHO. Check the 'profile and fun fly' section here.  Powell River is cool, My parents used to swap houses with a couple there for a few years.
