and we thought the Barret cal 50 was mean...man this thing shoved him back a few inches each shot. NOT a fun day at the range, and the cost of ammo... But hey, the cal 50 can take out a man at a mile and a half. Now a sniper can pick him off @ 3 miles
(with a 50x power scope). Or maybe they are developing an Ex Caliber round with GPS to just enter grid coordinates and fire.

Now how do we mount this in my HL Pershing...

In the late 1970s il the early 1980s I had a Finnish Lathi 20mm ( German 2cm flak round). All legal with ATF transfer stamp and Cali DD license. Had 200 rounds of ammo
in original kiste and cardboard ammo tubes. Sold it all in 1982 to pay taxes. Siiiiiigh occasionally sorry I did it but the climate has changed so much in this state the grandfathered
dd weapons can't be fired anyway ( so I hear). I also had completed the transfer work for the Japanese made Rheinmetall 37mm but decided to bail at last moment. Another decision I only occasionally
regret...

The Lathi makes this thing look like a peashooter. I fired 3-40 rounds from mine during the time I had it.. The range owner said he felt the shock wave at his farmhouse when I fired it; pushed gun and me several inches
each time I fired. Only fired from prone position as the gun sat of brass faced sled feet.

Interesting.....

I own guns and have been around them for most of my life.If you want to see some ammo being shot up,and by private citizens................This is on youtube.... ( Shooting RC planes with machine guns at big sandy range 2010 )

Take a good look at some of the hardware that is owned by privete citizens..some of it so big it had to be hauled there on a flat bed trailers....could be your neighbor...who knows.

And to think what was posted to one of my posts where i mentioned shooting very small fireworks from a stuart tank to "immulate cannon fire for a visual effect".Talk about dual standards on a forum.......This stuff is ok but my idea was just to dangerous for our society

Last time I went to the nearby gunshow one of my favorite vendors had parts for 37, 40, and 57mm guns. One day I hope to own one that is complete.

I've been around guns most of my life also BM. In my shooting heyday I fired several hundred rounds at a day long range session just about every weekend. Black powder, modern, pistols, rifles,
single shot, semi's, you name it. I can and have reloaded for nearly 50 different cartridges. I'm a life NRA member. I know my way around any firearm you care to throw my way. I've repaired them,
machined new parts for them, I've even done proper period rust bluing on a few. I'm still a decent shot. Am I against guns, far from it. Last time I tried I was able to ring a 8" steel circle offhand with a 577/.450 Martini-Henry ( using a load of 4759 under a Kapoc wad) at 200 metres....

When I fired my Lathi it was a big event at the range, everyone stopped.

The difference is I keep the shooting hobby completely separate from the RC hobby. I still believe it to be completely harebrained to control anything that shoots a projectile no matter how seemingly
innocent with hobby RC equipment. I'll always come out against it. Don't ply me with pleas of it's only "low power".

Tankque, have to agree. At the big MG shoot in North Carolina, one guy brings in an M-16 half track with quad 50s and shoots all day...he has an 18 wheeler full of ammo. One guy has brought in a fired a couple LAWs. (Now that's big money) A friend in GA has a halftrack with a towed 57mm and a jeep with a 37mm AT gun all firing low power loads. He has a 155mm Howitzer but that never leaves his property and occasionally fires it with a super light load. My tank had a 12 Ga shotgun subcaliber down the gun tube for black powder blanks and my cal 50 was set up with O2/propane. Also still an avid pistol shooter..With 25 yrs Army service, I fired everything from cal 30 Carbine to 105mm tank guns. BUT all these are 1;1 scale and are looked at in a different light than RC toys.

For that reason, there must be a total seperation of 1;1 scale military and our RC tanks & aircraft, as Feds deem such toys as potentially lethal and also can even be construed as subversive. We can do what we want in the back yard or at tank meets and be cool, but with these items, describing or even mentioning anything as explosive will bring unwanted scrutiny to RC tanks. Yes BM, small and seemingly insignificant mentioning of some RC mounted weapons as explosive can well be potentially dangerous to our RC tank hobby. With a big push on further weapons control/restrictions by the present regime, it would not take much to impose severe limitations on our tanks and aircraft. Please be aware of our concern.

Many years ago the Chinese Army (PLA) allowed people to rent and fire practiclly anything they had on one of their army bases. I don't know who was allowed to do that, but they had to pay a big fee. There was a video of them on a TV news program showing that. Everything from hand guns to AA guns and RPGs was available. It looked like great fun. I have no idea if that is still being done. If that was available to do on a US Army or USMC base, I think I would fit that into my budget somehow.

There was a gunshop in Sparks, Nevada where you could rent submachine guns and fire them on their indoor range, under strict supervision. $20 would get you a 20 round magazine, your choice of a weapon, and all of the safety gear and instruction you needed. I spent $240 there one fun afternoon trying out a dozen goodies. The H&K MP5 is a sweetheart.......my favorite.

Yeah, and I am going the oposite way in my trapshooting, trying to reduce the felt recoil as mush as possible, my latest;

BM what I see in your posts is your reaction to anyone who runs counter to what you want to do. Opinions or views in opposition to your own illicit a tone of condemnation; an
implied assessment that somehow the posters are defective for not seeing your way. For someone espousing a more laissez-faire approach to creative model building that reaction
seems less than inclusive.

Yo, lighten up dude.

Hey Wade, maybe be could set up a 1;18 Ultimate soldier infantry figure with that 20mm and hook up a HL card for the recoil

BIGMIG, sorry you have that state of mind. It is VERY obvious you have no concept of life where you are being watched and everything you say or print can and may be regarded as detrimental. I am very familiar with communist countries, security measures and with those who escaped it...my wife included. In this age of terrorism, very similar techniques are being used and EVERY means of electronic communication IS being monitored to nip any alleged supversive activity in the bud. Much if this is positive and better for our security, but on the other hand, hard on us trying to have a fun hobby and make things realistic without attracting undue attention..

Heavy or automatic weapons are regulated by very strict BATF control and extremely expensive licensing; meaning that if an agent bangs at your door at 02;00 on a Sunday morning , you had better get up and show the agent the weapon and security measures.....or you are in very deep doo-doo. (Tanque can attest to this.) An RC plane can be loaded with explosives and flown unto a VIP or crowd....an RC tank, although not as potentially lethal, could be used to remotely launch a short range weapon (or gas/bio canister) from a secure vantage point. These are a couple of things that could be considered by those agencies tasked with the nation's security. I had agents visit my home to inspect my tank, even though I had no live weapons on it. One of the reasons I sold my tank and deactivated submachine guns.

Please do not continue to be so naiive, overreactive and feel that everyone is picking on you because of your personal wants and that others don't like it. No unmanned drones are going to be circling your home and no SWAT teams will kick your door down. You may one day have a very polite knock at your door by a very polite, neatly dressed person, asking to see your RC toy. No problem and they go away satisfied, but if it gets that far, your computer will definately be watched and your home may have a bug planted. This is the world we live in and it's not paranoiah but reality. Read between the lines what EVERYONE is telling you. Make your goodies and have fun, but keep it away from electronic publicity.

I have been faced with this same argument and scrutiny in the past on this board. Some familiar names telling me that by upgrading the airsoft guns in my tanks I would bring down the wrath of the government and get RC tanks banned for everyone. Totally ridiculous. Even got PM's on it.

The brain trust is right though, we are all being watched at some level and being electronically monitored. Not so much by 'a man in a dark suit' as mentioned above but by cold, innocuous segments of computer code called bots that crawl through the forum looking for keywords that then alert humans that there may be a need to investigate. Dang, I can post on this site and it is indexed by Google within an hr.

So given that, who is bringing the attention to this board and to our hobby? Here are some keywords that any bot would have taken out of this thread:

-gun

-Shoulder fired (um, as in anti aircraft missiles)

-Barret cal 50

-50x power scope

-enter grid coordinates and fire.

-Lathi 20mm

-ATF  taxes

-37mm

-fired from prone position

-gunshow

-I fired several hundred rounds

-I know my way around any firearm you care to throw my way

-577/.450 Martini-Henry ( using a load of 4759 under a Kapoc wad) at 200 metres....

-At the big MG shoot in North Carolina

-he has an 18 wheeler full of ammo

-One guy has brought in a fired a couple LAWs.

-He has a 155mm Howitzer but that never leaves his property and occasionally fires it

-A friend in GA has a halftrack with a towed 57mm and a jeep with a 37mm AT gun all firing

-I am very familiar with communist countries, security measures and with those who escaped it.

EVERY means of electronic communication IS being monitored to nip any alleged supversive activity in the bud

A similar keyword search from BIGMIG's post yields:
-bottle rocket
(I am editing this line because PC pointed out that more than just bottle rocket was mentioned, I stand corrected)

This kicker in this thread is this line:

"We can do what we want in the back yard or at tank meets and be cool, but with these items, describing or even mentioning anything as explosive will bring unwanted scrutiny to RC tanks"

I don't really have a dog in this fight (outside of being harassed myself for wanting a tank that shoots little plastic bb's) and I don't want to be antagonistic but I don't see how some can chastise BM for mentioning firing bottle rockets then later that day go on a chest beating braggadocios rant on all the heavy artillery they have or had.

...double standard, at least BM's post pertained to an RC tank on a RC tank forum

Sorry to offend but that's how I read this.

Perry

This gun was created by Russian engineer gunsmith - Simonov in '41.
Russian soldiers are sometimes used it against the German snipers.
Yes - it is - 5 charger, yes - it is self-loading semi-automatic
Moreover - technically  - semi-automatic weapons from Simonov - could be converted into fully automatic mode.

Perry, you should read the posts closer, not simply perruse over the basic content.

BMs initial post indicated "firing an explosive projectile", not bottle rocket..which prompted the response.

All auto or heavy weapons owners MUST be in posession of a Federal license after a very thorough FBI investigation, covered in my comments, and that 1'1 scale and RC must be seperated.

Friends owning artillery are in Georgia and have full licensing. The Annual MG Shoot in NC is an internationally well known state sanctioned event and has dozens of BATF people in premisis to check legality and licensing.

You are obviously out of touch with GWAT upgraded surveillance techniques in daily use following 911 and our At War status with the combat actions in Iraq and Afghanastan. Anything related to firearms and since RC combat units are in use, RC sites also are being monitored. We are at war and the security measures are much tighter than they used to be.

Not a double standard, but simply a common sense approach not to adverstise anything that may be misconstrued as illegal.

Yes Patton and thanks for not flaming me too bad for having my opinion.
I must be out of touch with GWAT upgraded survailance techniques, that is true for sure. All I know is what can be gleened from unclassified documents, news stories, popular science and what have you. Probably the same info you have unless you are briefed on daily anti-terrorism countermeasure activities. I am not. I no longer have my security clearance as it has been years since I have done work with the DOE/DOD. Not name dropping as I can't figure out why I needed it to design power systems. It's not like I was a spy or something. Even back then I would have never been exposed to anything juicy.

The point I was making is that we probably don't have agents checking every single forum in the world every single hour of the day. They let computer programs do that grunt work based on key word searches. Same with cellular transmissions. And this thread, especially since BATF is brought into it would light up the board like a Christmas tree. BM's would probably go unnoticed. Why are all these key words appearing in a toy forum? Are you disputing this?

Yes, yes on the common sense and I wouldn't have started the questionable thread we are discussing and do not condone it. We have been on this board forever so I'm sure you know which aspects of RC tanking interest me. I have some real meanies that I don't share here just for that reason. Common sense manifests itself in many ways so don't assume others don't have it.

Cheers,
Perry

I don't think there is hate. At least not on my part. Just discussion.

wow...I just posted this because it reminded me of me shooting my fathers 8mm mouser  when I was 10....I would empty the mag on that thing and be moved back 5 feet from my starting point with 6 rounds......sorry to create all the hate.....

Its not your fault, In my experience anytime any sort of actual projectile, or even a bang is mentioned in many of these small hobbies, no matter the circumstances, things tend to erupt into a clash of opinions. Controversial subject for many, and the recent posts about it simply transferred over. I am also somewhat jealous of your chance to shoot such a rifle by that age...

Well one last time and then the morons can continue to be morons i guess...

Did some of you actually read and understand what i wrote..?? Miss quoted....words added i didn't even use.......!!

Here again i thought it would be a nifty idea to shot a small "LEGAL" ......"FIREWORKS"......( Called a MORTOR at the fireworks stand....50 in a package for $2.00 dollars ......Again i say "LEGAL" to buy "AND USE" in my state and county.......That i think any kid from 14 on up can buy...Mabe even younger than that..)and shot it from a ("SMALL 3/8 INCH DIA.REPLICA MINITURE GUN TUBE Mounted on a "TOY" 1/6 STUART TANK )..............To "SIMULATE a Cannon being fired "FOR A VISUAL EFFECT...........Just like you have machine gun sound, engine sound, visual smoke from a smoke unit. And a connon firing sound. ( FOR A VISUAL AFFECT )

Then the "CHICKEN LITTLE" Affect sets in and off to the racesRUN.....RUN FOR YOUR LIFE THE SKY IS FALLING............

You are going to ruin our tank hobby.........You are going to bring the "FEDS" down on us........You are going to give terriosts ideas..
MY god...and on and on.

All this because i wanted to simulate a FIRING cannon from a Replica tank model that moves about one or two miles and hour, with a radio range of 50 or 60 feet all for the simple "VISUAL" effect it would produce. (Just that simple...but a few morons on here just don't get it.) Well it seems some can only look at it with their warped view points of only bad things one could do.......

Now again these are "LEGAL IN MY STATE AND COUNTY".............What they are is other States somewhere else i don't care.

WHERE IN MY POSTS DID I USE THE WORD ( R>O>C>K>E>T> ) OR (Bottle ROCKET )...........??????????????? In one place stating way back to someone who had used this term, and that they were "NOT ROCKETS"........I can't help it if you can't read or "UNDERSTAND" what you read.

To my knowledge when you buy and use these "LEGAL FIREWORKS" they don't go into speciffics as to how you launch them at your own home and place of residence........Like anything else in this world you are responsible for any dammage that may be done by them if you are setting them off or give them to someone and they do dammage with them.

If you want to tape them to the side of your car and shoot them off i don't think anyone really cares if it's done on your own property. You can mabe even sit them on top of your wifes head and launch them if you have one..... Mabe on your push lawn mower while cutting the grass...................."DO YOU GET MY POINT"...???

These are "LEGAL" to use (around 6-8 days a year and mabe new years night..? ) If you go to indian reservations they set their own rules on when and where...They are a nation in a nation......

Now if you don't like firworks.....Bummer....I do..

Below is a couple of pictures of what this was all blown out of proportion over....

How about growing up and let it die and fade off into the back pages where it will be lost forever..
