That's already been established.

FA450R3 fits therefore the FG84 being the same dimensional (in diameter) will also fit.

Motor box must be set back by 1/4".

Status: offline 		I made some additional measurements on the firewall fit for the Saito450r. It looks like moving the firewall back 1/2" - 7/16" will be required. I went ahead and cut the firewall out and cut the key slots back 1/2". I then tack CA'd the wall back in,mounted the engine, and the thrust washer now protrudes 1/8"-3/16" past the cowl. The valve covers now clear the cowl all the way around as well.
If anyone is concerned about how well the factory glue job is, don't be. It took me close to 2 hours to get it out and cut the 5 slots. My usual trick of heating up a 1" putty knife with a propane torch and sliding it in there to melt the glue took forever. The glue does not melt, it burns!
Indeed the 450/FG84 will fit but some surgery is required.

This is a pretty good approximation to full scale rivets but real rivets are sanded flush to the skin. (Yes, with exceptions) What you see on bare metal planes is the color difference between the metals. On painted planes you see more of an indentation and maybe the edge of the rivet. So in going with this technique I would go with sanding primer back down to the vinyl rivet and once exposed stop and paint color.
Are you doing panel lines too? Same manner with line tape and sanding?

Your going to have a pretty trick TF FW for sure, looking forward to the finished results!

Hey Chris, here is my recommendation to you.... Zip lip, eyes open, pay attention... Now you will actually see the work in progress reach its final completion😄. Trust me, Ram44 knows more about a FW190 in his little finger than most know in their whole body.😳

Thanks, I never go into details on my knowledge on the FW190 but some of this stuff just comes with the territory, especially since they’re the main plane I build . I try to venture out but the little swastikas running through my veins always bring me back; that and my fellow Luftwaffe building brethren. lol

Status: offline 		It took a good part of the afternoon to put in the standard non-retracting. I had been reading about how tight the Robart units is. I am sure mine wasn't as bad but it didn't fit as easy as the old Mustangs.
I use a 4/40 wire down the left side to hook into a Great Planes nylon steering arm GPMQ4264. Have to drill a new hole closer to the center. I have very little trouble with this set-up.
I don't think it looks too bad myself as it blends in nicely.

Lots of help from "Fuzzy" the cat.

Status: offline 		Has anybody had an issue with the black fiberglass exhaust parts having cracks? I recieved 2 planes from Tower and both had cracks. I sent the first one back and recieved my replacement today. The one I got today appears to have been repaired and painted. I am pretty surprised Tower sent me this one. I will call them in the morning so I can return this one. Hopefully the third one will be better. Here are a few pictures of the repair.

Status: offline 		No cracks here. Looks like they were pushed in. Like shipping damage. UPS dropped my first one so hard it cracked the tail off.
Hopefully 3rd times a charm.

Status: offline 		Guys, my electric Robarts are very noisy, electrically speaking!  When I retract or deploy on the bench, the aileron servos start jittering!  The retracts have their own separate power supply so it must be the wires and their proximity.  I need to add some donut filters and move some wires around.  

Anyone else have this problem?

Mine was OK and not cracked.
But I am going to put a strip of fiberglass tape inside as it looks like a weak spot that engine vibration could work on.

Sorry to see that problem you have and too bad Tower didn't at least use a flat or satin black to over paint.
Myself, I would touch it up with my brush with some flat paint or sand that gloss stuff off and use a rattle can of flat to repaint the whole thing myself.
But that's me!

Status: offline 		I agree with you..I called Tower about you situation and they stated that; all they're going to do is place the item when shipped back in the scratch and dent depending. I think you have room for negotiations here. Save you and them some money depending on how you work it.

But if it were me, I'd just fix it and walk away as it's not that bad.. Somtime it's not worth the stress and you could do worse with the next...
