Has anyone built or heard much of a review on the Asiatam Famo? All I really find are a few builds in German.

Haven't had the opportunity to build my yet. It is a much better kit than their Elefant.

Thanks Jerry, Atleast thats something good to know. That being said are you happy with what you've seen so far.

Looks to me like an excellent base for detailing.

Yes having both the Elefant and Famo kits I can say with certainty the Famo is far superior to the Elefannt kit in look and finish.

In all fairness and to give credit where due I purchased the Elefant from Asiatam directly however the Famo I purchased from RCTank.de.
Dominque at RCTank made all the difference and was wonderful to work with; helpful, concise and was true to what was written. I will purchase further
items from them which I can't get easily from domestic sellers.

I'm hoping to set aside some model time during winter for the Famo; I'd like to commission someone to make a canvas top for it. If my dear old mum was still
with us I know she'd do it; years and years ago she sewed the top for an ESCI Kubelwagen! Alternatively I'm hoping some entrepreneurial soul will offer one...

Jerry

Thats good to know, I had heard that the Asiatam Elefant met with some great disapointment. I Also recentlt ordered one from RCTank.de, Dominique was a great help and answered Emails Quickly, I like that.

I have ordered from them once before with no problems.

Like I mentioned above I found a few German threads on the Asiatam Famo and they did some really nice builds.

Jerry I know what you mean about making the Top. My wife and I spent last winter making a whole new Top and Camper canvas for our boat, Never thought I would want to do that again................. I might try A fixed Top, I was thinking about Silk and Dope over a frame. This way you still retain the Fabric Texture and control how it looks with tension. Ive done it with Airplanes both Model and real, Might be the ticket for me.

Anyway I,m looking forward to the project this Winter.

i've got the metal asiatam elefant too, its a very neat model, you have work onto it it is not a tamiya but this one fits well ... its worth the investment ... i bought him second hand for 300 euro while its kit goes 550 euro's new so for this price its ... and its heavy all the parts in different metals ... i was surpriced how wel this model is made ... but for shoreness i will handle the inside with metal gleus so it never will get loose ... only the upperdeck  and the maindeck stays demontable for rc components ...

the famo is much better mark lawson had investigated this kit in dortmund on the asiatam stand  this year he was very possitive about the kit ... so i gonna next year to dortmund after my famo to

Your input on the Asiatam Elefant is also good to know, The Famo has always been on my want list I had to chance it. Half Tracks are a Favorite of mine. I have seen a few of yours doing searches on the net. I also see Jukenberg has the Sd.kfz 10 that I am also interested in.

don't buy the juckenburg , it don't fit ... many parts are crooked and need to be warmed up for straightening ... but the mainraison is the resin famo is big and very fragile to handle ... one of our guy's of BTB wouter is busy on one ... he won't buy a second juckenburg anymore

here is the link from wouters BTB Famo http://forum.battletanksbelgie.be/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=779

its not worth the investment of 300 euro you better save a bit more and go for the asiatam famo , its made to be rc 'd

Thanks Karel47.

Actually I have already ordered the ASIATAM FAMO, The more I looked into Juckenburg the more I kept reading that you need to rework parts, I have ran into this before back when I was Building Large scale Warships. Some resin parts companies did a Fantastic Job and some...........................Well I guess you could call them parts LOL.

I really dont want to make negative statements about something I have not handled yet however for now I will pass.

I'll post a report and pictures when my Asiatam Famo arrives in case there are others interested and like myself just cant find much out there.

I'll agree RexRoss
Very nice Build. Great adaptation and modification Of different scale AFV parts to make a functioning Model. This is one aspect of Modeling that makes the hobby so interesting. Endless possibilities with just a bit of imagination. Being a Scratch builder I can sure appreciate the work done.

It would be great if he had the front hood and radiator avaialble. Those look the hardest to scratch build.

Might be old news but I just heard from Dominique at rctank.de that there will be a special famo elmod board, with a blaster IV included and special Famo sounds.
This will be coming out in a few weeks.

I have no wish to scratch build a Tank Transporter trailer if there is an appropiate kit available, but it would compliment the Famo perfectly, any ideas?

I don't know of any kit. I think that a scratch build for thje trailer would be fairley simple. Even if you can't get a FAMO, they also had regular battle tanks tow disabled tanks from the battle fields when normal recoverey vehicles were not available. Hope you do a build thread on the trailer.

Well I'm still waiting on my Famo, Seems to be stuck in customs or something like that. 17 day's now and still waiting.

As for the Famo Trailer I also know of no Kits, A Scratch Build should not be to difficult and I might try it at some point. For now I have A 1/15 Verlinden s FH18 I will be modifying for tow. Need to build the limber and make the kit more articulated. All in good Time

Very Cool!!!! Where did you get the plans for the bridge and what kind of trees and ground cover/grass did you use. Also is it sand or dirt for the roads?
Great layout. I have been wanting to do something like this in my back yard.

MAUS45 Thank you.

The Bridge is just something I Created out of my head, no plans. The Ladder sections will make more bridges for the longer spans, I have not decided yet on a type.

The large grass area is just plain old Yard grass, I mow it with my weed eater. Just at the corners of the wood Bridge on each side is two bushes which are Variegated Thyme, Perfect for bushes in this scale, I'll be putting more of that in different areas.
The ground cover on either side of the river is Mother of Thyme, More great stuff as well. At the bend in the river on either side of the Dwarf Spruce is Scottish Moss. All of these plants do well in full sun and shade. They are also cold hearty to 30 Degrees.

This is just a start, More Dwarf Spruce trees and ground cover will be planted. AS for the roads right now they are Dirt however they will be covered over with Sand or something. I might even use Grout for building Rock walls on the roadway. It has been a lot of fun to create. No real setting just something that looks nice and able to run Tanks in. The Wife has graciously granted me another 6 ft of her garden area to expand so I might put a city block in over there.

Regards.
