Have a pic of the boat?! Havnt bought any lipos before but i can imagine if you get a 3s lipo you would be set and if theres room in the hull you could get one with higher capacity than 700mah.

Off the batt the bat an 11.1v lipo will be lighter and more powerfully-!even if not set out right it will be faster!

Depends what the voltage of the motors are rated at.
You may also wish to change the props to get the most out of it as they will be spinning faster.

Go for it and upgrade motors when they pop!

I can almost guarentee that if you go from 7.2 volts to 11.1 it will blow up the ESC the moment you plug it in.

can
If it is in fact a cheap boat, keep it  sock as a retrieval/fun boat and get a new hull with potential. I am sure some people here can offer suggestions as a to a great platform to start with.

sorry, miss read.  Ultimately it is up to the electronics and what their max volts is.  Remember that 11.1 is a nominal voltage, not max.

I wouldnt say it would "blow" up but if cooled properly and carefully checked while running you may be able to even run 4s but NO one on here would reccomend that. but just for poops and giggles i ran 21.6v through the esc below 3 times already and every thing is perfectly intact.just to mention the bec output only raised by .6v to 6.22 from the original 5.62 with a 7.2v battery my brushes are getting toasted but hey its a 700 ryobi saw zaw motor made for pain and pleasure.
