I have a couple Cyclon .15's that are piped and turn up in the mid 30,000's. They have to run hand layed glass or carbon props. Wood or plastics would explode. I have a few nelsons as well that are the same story. My FAI one turns 42,000. no nitro. 80% methanol & 20% castor. It's for F3d pylon. Have it on a fiberglass/carbon delta wing like a Diamond Dust. They have no carbs. Huge venturi. They run on bladders. Needs pressure to feed. The .15 has the power of a .25 I'm actually selling a spare one that is like new still.

What rpm do you launch the 42,000 rpm nelson engine at..?
What size prop..?

It's turning around 38ish static on the ground. The props were around 6.8-7.1 diameter and the pitch was around 8 or so. The F3D class really turn small props and high pitch props with a very narrow crop. Looks like a pencil. The MB engines they mostly run now are even faster! But they are around $600-800 each.

My Nelson FAI 6.5 cc [.40 ci] can only turn a 6.75x7 prop at 30,000 in the air.
I don't see how your .15 can turn a 7x8 at 42,000.
A 7x8 prop at 42,000 rpm consumes about 10 HP and gives you a resulting speed around 300 mph.....

And my .15 swings roughly a 6.75x4 something. They are handmade, not a factory prop. Plus being more rigid and thinner, they can turn higher. Less flex and very narrow crop.

MB 40 engines typically launch in the low 30's and run in the 33-34k range in the air, from everything I have seen about them, and I believe they are the fastest spinning F3D engines around today.
