...Coz my new toy is here, and it's from the right era!

Biiiiiig thanks to James from FEJ for arranging safe delivery of this gorgeous aeroplane...stores should be here soon too! FEJ do a good range of schemes for the A-7, including the gull grey and white one, but I just fancied finishing mine myself. Ralf at Tailor made is making me a decal and paint mask set for the specific aircraft selected (pic below) and given my current rate of building, I recon she should see light under her wheels pretty soon...maybe as early as 2020! I'll have to be a tad quicker than though that as Barry Atkinson wants a review of it for RCJI...hence not too many pics here yet!

Also got to say thanks to The General for answering the load of questions I had before I placed the order...look fwd to seeing your new one soon Lewis!

Cheers,

Dick
England

Make sure you bring that tablecloth with you to events to display it on.

Mr Matt, Somewhere near 1/6th - about 90" long.

Hi Dick, looking superb, thats Viagra with a turbine, and can't wait to see this one fly, I can see I'll have to move back down to the south and rejoin Wroughton, I feel I'm missing out up here, by the way, we saved you some cake at Marham, but someone filched the last slice, no names no pack drill.

Nice project. Ever since building the small JHI A-7 a few years ago I've wanted to build a larger one. Watching with great interest.
I painted mine and used Ralle's water slide decals. You'd do yourself a big favor aquiring them as dry transfer rub-ons from Ralle vs water slide. He can do both formats well.
There are a ton (!) of markings on the A-7....as you'll see.

Great choice Dick. That is going to look mean all bombed up. I think you are right to paint it yourself too. Can't complain about FEJ paintwork too much, but all these ARF's look a bit "sterile".

Yes, I know!

Hi Ian,

Yes, we need you back!!! Re the cake, yes, I gathered my slice got 'lost'...still, we'll only have to share with Aldridge en route to JetPower

Aldridge; yes, and probably (if you survive till 2020 and unless something happens when you share a room with Geoff at the Nats )

Florent...thought that might make the good parts twitch!

Thanks Smchale, a real good point...putting waterslides on is tiresome, rub-ons might be better...I'll discuss with Ralf. BTW, looks like a stunning job you did on yours...very nice!

John, yes, that was part the reason for not having it painted...I'm trying to dirty up my Mirage a bit, add more decals, etc to take away that Airfix Model look. It's coming on OK but would have been easier to do with a bare airframe. I've bought the pylon kit too (not here yet, still being made) and the drop tanks...bombs not available but easy enough to make a pattern and take some off so, hopefully, will look good when done.

Cheers,

Dick

Managed to have a good look at the Corsair today and the impressions are very good. Its very light and yet seems strong and stiff in the right places. Its going to look very impressive once it has had a nice scale scheme applied.

Geoff.
